Mr. Joseph Raymond Leger, age 80 years, of Wakefield, formerly of Astor St., Lynn, died Saturday April 28th, at Harborside Wakefield after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Agnes V. (Lichtenberg) Leger.

Born in Grande-Dique, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Aurel and Regina (Roy) Leger. He attended schools in Canada and moved to Lynn as a young man.

Mr. Leger served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He was employed as a grinder at the General Electric Riverworks Plant for many years until he retired in 1988.

He was a member of the Franco-American War Veterans Post #12. He enjoyed going to local coffee and donut shops. He was an avid wrestling fan, and a fan of the Montreal Canadians.

He is survived by one son, Donald P. Leger of Lynn; and sister, Geneva Levasseur of Palm Coast, FL. He was also the brother of the late Romeo, Dominique, Leo and Rita Leger.

Service Details: His funeral will be held from the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St., on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V. Church at 10:30 AM, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are from 3:00 - 6:00 PM on Sunday.
