    Valérie Léger
    NOTRE-DAME - À sa résidence, le mardi 23 mai 2000, à l’âge de 74 ans, est décédé Valérie Léger, domicilié à Notre-Dame. Né à Saint-Antoine le 29 juin 1925, il était fils de feu Philippe Léger et de feu Marie (née Goguen). Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Georgina (née Cormier) Léger; trois filles: Marie Richard (Roger) et Joanne Léger (Mario), toutes deux de Notre-Dame et Josette Richard (John) de Saint-Antoine; six fils: Fernand (Murielle) de Bouctouche, Guy de Leominster, Mass., Normand (Pauline) et Claude (Ginette), tous deux de Notre-Dame, Michel (Ann) de Gardner, Mass. et Aldege (Nancy) de Dieppe; un beau-fils, Alderice Richard de Notre-Dame; deux frères: Léandre (Lorraine) et Laurie, tous deux de Saint-Antoine, ainsi que 19 petits-enfants, une arrière-petite-fille et plusieurs neveux et nièces. Une fille, Cécilia Richard (1996); un fils, Neil (1997); une petite-fille, Pierrette (1998); quatre soeurs: Dorilla, Evelyne, Florina et Bella, ainsi que trois frères: Émile, Joe et Édouard, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Léger était charpentier. Il était membre du Club de l’âge d’or et des Chevaliers de Colomb de Notre-Dame. La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la salle mortuaire de l’église de Notre-Dame. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Sacré-Coeur de Notre-Dame, le vendredi 26 mai, à 19h. Le révérend père Alphonse Richard sera le célébrant. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. À la demande de la famille, un don à Service-Communautaire LePhare, la Société canadienne du cancer ou à la Fondation des maladies du coeur du N.-B. serait apprécié. Heures de visites: le jeudi 25 mai, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h, et le vendredi 26 mai, de 14h à 16h et de 17h30 jusqu’à l’heure des funérailles. La direction des funérailles a été confiée aux soins professionnels de la Maison funéraire Frenette ltée de Saint-Antoine (525-2855).

    Mrs. Phillip Goguen Notre Dame, Oct. 23 -
    The death occurred here on Tuesday last of Mrs. Phillip Goguen, and aged and highly respected resident of this parish, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oliver Gallant. The deceased had been ill for a lengthy period and while death was not unexpected, yet it came as a distinct shock to her wide circle of friends and relatives. She had reached the ripe old age of 89 years and six months and before her marriage was Miss Mary Leger, of Cape Bauld. Her husband predeceased her several years ago. Surviving are five sons, William, of West Gardner, Mass.; Joshua, Lynn, Mass.; Alfred, Gardner, Mass.; Louis, also resident in Massachusetts and Angus, of the Grey Bus Line Co. Ltd.; also four daughters, Mrs. Phillip Goguen and Mrs. Daniel Pellerin, Cocagne; Mrs. Placide Maillett, St. Norbert, Kent County, and Mrs. Oliver Gallant, Notre Dame. The late Rev. Father Goguen, curate of L'Assomption parish, this city, was a grandson. The funeral was held here on Thursday morning and was attended by a large concourse of people. High mass of requiem was celebrated by Very Rev. Dean Desire F. Leger, rector of the Church of St. Louis de France, Lewisville, a cousin of the deceased, and following the service interment was made in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs, Earnest, Phillip and Oliver Gallant, Placide Maillett, Angus and Aurele Goguen. Numerous beautiful floral tributes were received, as well as many mass cards, spiritual offerings and cards of sympathy, bearing silent tribute to the high esteem in which the deceased was held.

    Mrs. Peter N. LeBLanc St. Anthony, Kent Co., May 21 -
    Relatives in Kent County have received word of the death in Fitchburg, Mass., of Mrs. Peter N. LeBlanc, sister of Levi Leger, of St. Anthony. Mrs. LeBLanc was 66 years of age and was formerly Miss Henriette Leger. She leaves her husband, a son, Ulysse LeBlanc, Gardner; three daughters, Mrs. Hilaire LeBLanc, and the Misses Helen and Lea LeBLanc, all of Fitchburg; two sisters, Mrs. Oliver Jaillet and Mrs. Gilphie Goguen, both of Gardner, Mass., and a brother, Levi Leger. The funeral was held at St. Joseph's Church, Fitchburg, a solemn high mass of requiem for the repose of her soul being sung by Rev. Alphee Chartier, celebrant, Rev. Alphonse Lachapelle was deacon and Rev. Joseph Deschenes, sub-deacon. The pallbearers were Herve Goguen, Alban Goguen, J. Henry Goguen, formerly of Cocagne; Louis Jaillet, all nephews of the late Mrs. LeBlanc. Burial was in Fitchburg. Mrs. LeBLanc was active in church work and in several societies and was a lady of wide popularity in Kent County and Fitchburg.
