Deceased Highly Esteemed Resident of Kent Co. -
Many friends in St, Mary's and other parts of Kent County will learn with regret of the death of Miss Elise Leger, daughter of Mrs. S. S. Leger and the late Mr. Leger, of St. Mary's, which occurred in Hotel Dieu hospital yesterday forenoon following a brief illness of flu-pneumonia. The deceased entered the hospital on Saturday, but despite the best of medical skill and nursing care she failed to rally. Highly esteemed for her fine womanly qualities, the late Miss Leger endeared herself to everyone with whom she came in contact and her passing will be deeply mourned. Deceased leaves to mourn her widowed mother, four sisters and four brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Madeleine Richard, Buctouche; Mrs. J. B. Dallaire, Moncton; Mrs. Rodolphe LeBlanc, St. Mary's, and Miss Jeanne Leger, well known art teacher, of Waltham, Mass., formerly of Moncton. The brothers are Alfred, of St. Mary's; Edmond, of Verdum, Que.; Adelard, of Moncton, and Gerard, of Gardner, Mass. Upon receipt of word of her sister's serious illness, Miss Jeanne Leger chartered an aeroplane in Boston yesterday and flew to Moncton, unfortunately reaching here just a few hours after her sister had passed away. The remains will be forwarded to St. Mary's today and the funeral will be held there on Tuesday. - [S35] Source inconnue author, Sainte Marie de Kent, Registre de la paroisse Mont Carmel (n.p.: n.pub., source inconnue publish date).

Adelard Leger, 40, Dies in City Hospital -
Struck by Car Early Monday on Main Street -
Inquest Tomorrow -
Adelard Leger died in the City Hospital last night at six o'clock, two days after he was admitted severely injured as the result of being struck on Main street by a car allegedly driven by Hilyard Collier, Dr. P. McL. Atkinson, attending physician, stated last night the 40-year-old Fuller Brush salesman suffered several broken ribs, a fractured hip and internal injuries when he was struck by a car about one o'clock Monday morning. Absolute details of the injuries will not be known until the post-mortem report is received. An inquest into circumstances surrounding the accident and subsequent death will be held tomorrow morning, Dr. A. R. Myers, coroner, said last night. A jury will be selected today. Leger was walking across Main street near Wesley at the time of the accident, leaving a car parked on the lower side of the street. City Police Constable Emery Bourque investigated and found blood on the street where the man had fallen. He ordered the injured man taken to hospital immediately. Leger gradually lost ground in his battle for life and little hope was held for his recovery yesterday morning.
Native of Kent County - The death will cause great sorrow to a host of friends here and in Buctouche and St. Mary's. Mr. Leger was born in St. Mary's, Kent County, the son of Mrs. S.S. Leger and the late Mr. Leger. For many years he operated a general store in Buctouche in addition to being customs officer for eight years. Coming to the city eight years ago, he operated a grocery store on Mountain Road for some time. At the time of his death he was a provincial constable and was employed as a Fuller Brush salesman for several months. Surviving are his wife, formerly Miss Elsie LeBlanc, of Buctouche, and six children, Muriel, 15; Jemma, 11; Roger, 9; Rosemond, 8; Bernice, 3; and Bermont, one and a half years. He also leaves to mourn three brothers, Alfred, of St. Mary's; Edmund, of the C.N.R. General Office staff, Montreal, and Gerald, of Gardner, Mass., and four sisters, Mrs. F.J.B. Richard, Buctouche; Mrs. Rudolphe LeBlanc, St. Mary's; Mrs. J.B. Dallaire, Moncton, and Miss Jeanne Leger, of Waltham, Mass.
