Patrick Phillip Legere Port Elgin, Sept. 24 -
The funeral service of the late Patrick Phillip Legere was held in St. Clement's Church on September 3rd, at 9 a.m. The deceased was 45 years of age. He leaves to mourn his wife the former Mary Ferris, of Amherst; two daughters, the Misses Rita and Corinne, and one son, Master Alfred; four sisters, Mary (Mrs. Dan McGraw), Annie (Mrs. George LeBlanc), Mrs. Pat Veno, and Lizzie, at home; one brother, Frank, all of Port Elgin. Requiem mass was sung by Father F. Cormier, Pallbearers were: Frank McGraw, Charlie McGraw, Cecil Legere, Pte. Joe Legere, Pte. Ernest Legere, and Pte. Roy Legere. A large number of mass cards were received and a cross made of cut flowers. The late Mr. Legere was an employee of Fred Magee, Ltd., for over 25 years and will be greatly missed by all. Death of F. Legere - Sackville (Special) -
Frank Legere, 78, of Port Elgin died in the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday following a lenghthy illness. He was born at Melrose, son of the late Jaddeus and Mathilda (Cormier) Legere. He was a machinist for 50 years and a member of St. Clement's Roman Cathlolic Church and of the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his second wife, the former Eleanor Shea; six sons, Cecil and Roy, Moncton, Amos and Ernest, Hamilton, Leonard; Calgary and Albert, Sackville; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard LeBlanc (Katherine), Moncton, Mrs. Leon Cormier (Doris), Pictou and Mrs. Emile LeBLanc (Sara), Little Cape; two sisters, Mrs. George LeBlanc and Miss Elizabeth Legere, Port Elgin; 40 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. The body is resting at Jones Funeral Home in Port Elgin from where the service will be held on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The parish of Great Shemogue was saddened last week when one of their oldest residents in the person of Fidele Donnell passed away at the age of 79 years. Although the deceased had been ailing for over three months his passing came as a shock to the community, and his wide circle of friends and relatives will regret to learn of his passing.
