    John B. Leger Dies at Age 47 - Barachois (Special) -
    The death of John Baptiste Leger, 47, occurred suddenly on Wednesday evening at his home in Barachois. Mr. Leger was a carpenter by trade, and had worked on Wednesday in Moncton, where he was employed by the Macbeath Constuction and Supply Company, Ltd. He became ill that evening, and was pronouced dead when medical aid arrived. He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Terriault; one son, Gerald, and a daughter, Jeannine, both at home; one sister, Mrs. Elionora Leger, of Barachois, three brothers, Alphee, of Fitchburg, Mass., Stanislas of Shediac, and Edgar of Barachois. The body is resting at the home, from where the funeral will be held to the St. Henri de Barachois Church on Saturday morning at nine o'clock. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

    Marguerite Léger-Pelchat

    - À la Villa du Repos, le dimanche 10 février 2008, à l’âge de 90 ans, est décédée Marguerite Léger-Pelchat, domiciliée à la Villa du Repos à Moncton, mais autrefois de Barachois. Née le 19 juillet 1917 à Saint-Joseph, elle était fille de feu David et Zelma (Léger) Thériault.

    Elle laisse dans le deuil une fille, Jeannine Léger de Moncton; un fils, Gérald Léger (Carmen) de Longueuil, QC; quatre soeurs: Marie-Thérèse Thériault et Sara Michalick (Ed) de Moncton, Évangeline Léger (Adrice) de Grand-Barachois et Louise Gaudet (Louis-Arthur) de Memramcook; trois frères: Camille et Aurèle (Alice) Thériault d’Oakville, Ont. et Ulysse Thériault (Lucille) de Grand-Barachois: six petits-enfants, deux arrière-petits-enfants, ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux.
    Son premier conjoint, Jean-Baptiste D. Léger; son deuxième conjoint, Saluste Pelchat; un frère, Eugène Thériault, ainsi qu’une soeur, Juliette Gallant, l’ont précédée dans la tombe.

    Elle était maîtresse de poste et propriétaire d’un magasin général à Barachois.

    La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 14h, le mardi 12 février, à la Maison funéraire Frenette ltée, 396, rue Main, à Shédiac (532-3297, www.salonfrenette.com). Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Henri du Grand-Barachois, le mercredi 13 février, à 14h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial.

    Heures de visites: le mardi 12 février, de 14h à 16h et 19h à 21h et le mercredi 13 février, de 13h jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles à 13h40.

    Au lieu des fleurs, un don à la Maison Nazareth serait apprécié.

    Marguerite Léger-Pelchat, 90, of the Villa du Repos, Moncton and formerly of Barachois passed away at the Villa du Repos on Sunday, February 10, 2008. Born July 19, 1917 in Saint-Joseph, she was the daughter of the late David and Zelma (Léger) Thériault. She was the former proprietor and operator of a General Store and also the Postmistress in Barachois. She is survived by one daughter, Jeannine Léger of Moncton; one son, Gérald Léger (Carmen) of Longueil, QC; four sisters, Marie-Thérèse Thériault and Sara Michalick (Ed) both of Moncton; Évangeline Léger (Adrice) of Grand-Barachois, Louise Gaudet (Louis-Arthur) of Memramcook; three brothers, Camille and Aurèle (Alice) Thériault both of Oakville, ON, Ulysse Thériault (Lucille) of Grand-Barachois; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jean-Baptiste D. Léger; second husband, Saluste Pelchat; one brother, Eugène Thériault; and by one sister, Juliette Gallant. Visitation at Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac (532-3297) on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until time of departure at 1:40 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Saint-Henri Roman Catholic Church, Grand-Barachois.     Mrs. Mary Jane Legere -
    Word was received in Amherst this morning of the death in Worcester, Mass., of Mrs. Mary Jane Legere, a former resident of Amherst, who has been residing in the Massachusetts city for several months with son Edmund. While her son, Valerie, in Amherst, had received word of her illness he did not realize that it was so serious until he received a telegram this morning advising him of her death. Mrs. Legere was taken ill with pneumonia but recovered from the attack, only to develop plerisy. This illness with a combination of other complaints proved fatal. Mrs. Legere will be well remembered in Amherst and her many friends and relatives will learn with sorrow of her death. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Frank D. Cormier, six sons, Frank, Montreal, Valerie, Amherst, Arthur in Moncton, and Edmund , Joseph and Henry in Worchester; also two daughters, Mrs. Charles Gould, amd Miss Tillie of Worcester. Her husband, the late Joseph Legere, predeceased her nine years ago. Two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Allan of Amherst, and Mrs. William LeBlanc, Montreal; and two brothers, Jude (Bud Carman), New York, and Frank Cormier, also survived her. The remains are expected to arrive in Amherst on Friday and will be conveyed to the home of her son, Valerie Leger, Patterson Street. The funeral will be held from St. Charles Church on Saturday morning.
