Mrs. Jack Gallant Shediac, Jan. 22 -
Death removed one of Grand Digue's oldest residents early this morning, when Mrs. Jack Gallant (nee Cecile Babineau) passed away at her home at three o'clock, after an illness of eight weeks. The deceased was 91 years of age and had been married twice, her first husband being the late Goashin Leger, of Grand Digue. She leaves to mourn five children by her first husband, two sons, Henry Leger, in Grand Digue, and Joseph Leger, in the U.S.A., and three daughters, (Agnes) Mrs. Vautour, in the U.S.A.; (Gertrude) Mrs. William Bourgeois, in Grand Digue, and (Elise) Mrs. Fred Boudreau, of Cambridge, Mass., and one brother, Joseph Babineau, of Grand Digue. The deceased was well known and loved by all the populace in that parish as she had been a life-long resident of that place, and she was always ready with a helping hand for any good cause to the parish, and the parish is mourning her loss. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon from the Church of Visitation, Grand Digue, with Rev. Father Emile Gallant officiating.
