    Yvon Léger 1923 - 2007 -
    Yvon Léger, 84, husband of Nora, passed away on December 17, 2007 at the Dr. George L. Dumont hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born April 24, 1923 in Dieppe, he was the son of the late Alban Léger and the late Julie Léger. He was employed by General Motors in Oshawa, Ontario for twenty-eight years. He attended the St-Henrie du Grand-Barachois Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus - 4th degree and a member of the club D'age D'or in Grand Barachois. Apart from his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Denise Stephens (Doug) of Vancouver, BC; three sons, Robert Léger (Melba Gruntz) of Whitby, Ontario, Peter Léger of Oshawa, Ontario and Paul Léger of Calgary, Alberta; sister, Dorine Walker (Frank) of Mississauga, Ontario; two brothers, Clarence of St-Paul and Gérald Léger of Dieppe; nine grandchildren, Lori-Anne, Roxanne, Mathieu, Melissa, Holly, Ashley Rose, Tiffiny, Jennifer and Emelie; five great- grandchildren, Bradley, Gavin, Gage, Misha and Hyatt along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Edgar. Resting at Cooperative Funeraire Passage Funeral Co-operative Shediac-Bridge, NB. Visiting hours will be held Friday December 21 from 2 until 4 pm as well as from 7 until 9 pm and Saturday December 22 from 9 until 10 am. A funeral service will be held at St. Henrie du Grand Barachois Roman Catholic Church on Saturday December 22 at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at the Parish cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lungs and Kidney foundation or Heart and stroke foundation or donors choice would be appreciated by the family.     Mrs. Edith Leger, 82, of 422 Acadia Ave., Dieppe, died Thursday at Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital, Moncton, following a lengthy illness. Born in Lourde, she was a daughter of the late Edouard and Dometholde (LeBlanc) Saulnier. She was formally employed with Humphrey's Mill. She attended Ste. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe. Twice married her first husband, Peter Gallant died in 1971, and her second husband, Alban Leger, died in January, 1983. She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs Emery LeBlanc (Marie), Fox Creek, Mrs. Alphonse Collette (Dora), St Phillip, Mrs Lionel Leger (Rita), Notre Dame, Mrs Gerald Robichaud (Therese), Dieppe, Mrs Ernest Melanson (Corrine), New Hampshire, Mrs Jeanette Caissie and Mrs Gloria LeBlanc, both of Moncton; one step-daughter, Mrs Frank Walker (Doreen), Mississauga, Ont.; Five sons, Alfred Gallant, Saint John, Gerard Gallant, Havelock, Arthur Gallant, Dieppe and Hector Gallant, Toronto; four step-sons, Yvon Leger, Barachois, Clarence Leger, St Paul, Gerald and Edgar Leger, both of Dieppe; one sister. Mrs Joseph Caissie (Maggie), Moncton; two brothers, Johnny, Moncton and Pascal, River Glade; 35 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body is at Frenette's Funeral Home, Moncton. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Ste Threse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

    Albertine Gallant of La Montain passed away at her residence on Sunday, February 18th, 2007 at the age of 78. Born in La Montain, she was the daughter of the late Thaddee Leger and the late Alice Melanson. She worked as a Janitor at the Université de Moncton until her retirement. She is survived by one daughter, Yolande (Terry) Brant of Deseronto, ON; four sons, Daniel (Charline) Gallant of Dieppe, Donald (Antoinette) Gallant of St-Joseph, Brian (Janice) Gallant of Little Dover Road, Marc Gallant of La Montain; one sister, Therese (Gus) Gallant of Dieppe; two brothers, Ronald (Nan) Leger of Moncton and Normand (Phyllis) Leger of Dover; eight grandchildren, Jason, Tina, Joel, Nicole, Carole, Martin, John, Josee; and one great grandchild, Olivia; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Johnny Gallant (1996); three sisters, Antoinette Leger, Rita LeBlanc and Maria Leger. Visitation will be held at Dupuis Funeral Home, 15 Rte La Vallee, Memramcook on Monday, February 19th from 7 to 9pm, Tuesday, February 20th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm and Wednesday, February 21st from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral mass will be held at St-Thomas de Memramcook Roman Catholic church, St-Joseph on Wednesday, February 21st at 11:00 am.     M. Jacques Poirier

    St-Joseph (DNC) - M. Jacques Poirier, de St-Joseph, est décédé hier soir à l'hôpital Dumont, de Moncton, à l'âge de 77 ans, après une longue maladie.

    M. Poirier était natif de St-Louis-de-Kent et était le fils de feus Baptiste Poirier et Justine Daigle. Il avait exercé le métier de forgeron pendant toute sa vie.

    Il laisse dans le deuil, outre son épouse, née Léona Léger, 10 fils: Eugène, de Trenton, Ont., Georges, de Waltham, Mass., Dollard et Jean Paul, de Toronto, Léonard, de Moncton, Bernard, Yves, Robert, Norbert et Gérard, de St-Joseph, quatre frères; Pierre, Edmond, Adolphe, de St-Louis-de-Kent, et Joseph, de Matapédia, une soeur; Mme Antoine Allain, Ida, de St-Charles-de-Kent, et 25 petits-enfants.

    La dépouille mortelle est actuellement exposée à la Maison funéraire Dupuis, de Memramcook. Les funérailles auront lieu lundi matin en l'église de St-Thomas de St-Joseph, à 10 heures a.m.
