Mrs. Delphine Cormier
The death of Mrs. Marie Delphine Cormier, who had been a resident of Amherst for over sixty years, occurred this morning at her home Chignecto Street, Although the deceased had been an invalid for seven years, she had only been seriously ill for the past week. Her keen mind and pleasant disposition was the delight of her family and friends. She kept in touch with local and world events and was a good conversationalist. She was the last member of a large family, daughter of the late Madeline and Maximin Legere of Memramcook, and was a devote member of the St. Charles R.C. Church. She was 85 years of age. The late Mrs. Cormier is survived by four sons, Capt. Nelson of Halifax; Frank in Amherst; Andy of Norwood, Mass., and Willis at home; also five grandchildren. Her husband William Cormier, predeceased her five years ago. The remains are resting at the home of her son, Frank Cormier, 97 Church Street. 80, Joggins, widow of Ambroise Legere, died Sunday at Shediac Nursing Home. She had been a patient at the Nursing Home for the past four and one half years. She was born in Upper Aboujagane, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sylvain Gauthier.She was a member of the St. Thomas Acquinas Roman Catholic Church. Her husband died in 1951. Surviving are three daughters, Neta (Mrs. Roy Murphy) and Julia (Mrs. Pearly Wheaton), both of Joggins and Mrs. Freda Whittle of Hamilton, Ont. Five sons, Dennis and Albert , Toronto. Ernest, Hamilton, Ont. Edgar, St. Catherines, Ont. and Philip of Joggins. Also 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The body is at the home of her son, Philip Legere in Joggins. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins. Surviving are sister, Freda Whittle, Hamilton, Ont.; brother, Edgar, St. Catharines, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Murphy; sister, Julia Wheaton; brothers, Dennis, Albert, Phillip, Ernest. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, parish prayers 8 p.m. today, both in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins, Rev. J.B. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins, and the Knights of Columbus Council 2916, Amherst. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 4 and the Joggins Senior Citizens Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Agnes (Noonie) Cormier; two sisters, Mrs. Neta Murphy, Joggins, Mrs. Freda Whittle, Hamilton; a brother Edgar; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Julia Wheaton; three brothers Philip, Ernest, Albert. The body is at home of his wife Agnes in Joggins where parish prayers will be held today at 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Friday, St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Father Philippe Thibodeau officiating. Burial will be in Ragged Reef Cemetery.

Amherst - The death of Reginald Joseph Legere, of 19 Wellington St., Amherst, occurred Thursday, April 13, 1989 at Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. He was 50. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Gerald and Winnifred (Dupuis) Legere. A printer by trade, he was employed at the Tribune Press in Sackville, N.B. He enjoyed golf, fishing, photography and music. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Carmel Ann Sauveur; on son, Michael Charles of Calgary, Alta.; one daughter, Diana Lynn of Brookdale; one granddaughter, Gillian Carmel; a dear aunt, Millie Legere of Amherst; and several nieces and nephews. he was predeceased by infant sister, Lottie, and a brother Alphonse, on Feb. 18, 1989. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. His remains rested at Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, from where parish prayers were held Sunday evening. Funeral service will be held today at 10 a.m. from St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, conducted by Fr. Louis Caissie. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery at a later date.
