CHURCHVILLE - Mathias (Mike) Legere, 87, Churchville, Pictou County, died Friday in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Little Cape, N.B., he was a son of the late Cyril and Adele (Richard) Legere. He lived in Pictou County most of his life and was a member of Bridgeville United Church. He was an active gardner and farmer, providing produce to many Pictou County residents for a number of years. During the Second World War, he served with the Pictou Highlanders. He is survived by five daughters, Linda (Mrs. Henry Fraser), Upper Plymouth; Helen (Mrs. Donald MacInnis), Stellarton, Vinie (Mrs. Howard Butler), New Glasgow; Ellen (Mrs Donald Murphy), Pictou Landing Road; Sylvia (Mrs. Robert Hawboldt), Oromocto, N.B.; two sisters, Mrs Rose Perry and Marie (Mrs. Leo Ouellette), both of Massachusetts; two brothers, Patrick and Clovis, both of Cape Pele, N.B.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel; an infant daughter, Bessie Eva, several sisters and brothers. The body is in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Bridgeville United Church. Burial will be in Bridgeville Cemetery.Donations may be made to any charity.

McINNIS, Donald Brian (Duggan) -
47, 39 St. Bernard St., New Glasgow, died February 22, 1996, at home. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Mrs. Helen (Legere) McInnis, Stellarton and the late Don McInnis. He was a graduate of Stellarton High School where he was active on high school hockey and rugby teams. He had been employed as regional manager for the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. He was a volunteer for the Pictou County Food Bank and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. While residing in Sherbrooke, he had been a member of St. Mary's Lions Club for a number of years. Surviving are his wife, the former Linda Allard; daughter, Jillian (Mrs. Michael Vandertoorn), Lockeport; son, Donnie, at home; brothers, Greg, Calgary; Rod, Inuvik, N.W.T.; Ted, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Saturday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Charles Cameron and Rev. Gerard McInnis officiating. Burial in parish cemetery. Reception to follow in church hall. Family flowers only. Donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Pictou County Food Bank or the Lodge That Gives.

Churchville, Pictou County - Mrs. Mathias (Mike) Legere, 86, of Churchville, died Friday in Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Abney, P.E.I., she was the former Hazel Lillian Giddings, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Richards) Giddings. She lived in Churchville for the past 37 years, and had previously lived in other parts of Pictou County. She was a member of Bridgeville United Church. Surviving are her husband, Mike, five daughters, Linda (Mrs. Henry Fraser), Upper Plymouth; Helen (Mrs. Donald MacInnis), Stellarton; Vinie (Mrs. Howard Butler), New Glasgow; Ellen (Mrs. Donald Murphy), Pictou Landing Road; and Sylvia (Mrs. Robert Hawboldt), Oromocto, N.B.; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bessie Eva, in infancy; and 11 brothers and sisters. The body is in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Bridgeville United Church, Rev. Donald Crooks officiating, with burial in Bridgeville Cemetery. She was a member of First United Church, Trenton; Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Trenton and a veteran of the Second World War. She is survived by her husband, Henry; son, Larry, at home; four sisters, Helen (Mrs. Donald McInnis), Stellarton; Vinie (Mrs. Howard Butler), New Glasgow; Ellen (Mrs. Donald Murphy), Pictou Landing Road; Sylvia (Mrs. Robert Hawboldt), Churchville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister in infancy. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Stephen Fram officiating.
