Raymond 'Ray' Joseph Leger, 78, of Fernwood Drive, Moncton, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Dr. G.-L. Dumont Hospital. Born May 25, 1929 in Moncton, he was the adopted son of the late Arthur and Florence (Belliveau) Leger. Ray was retired from VIA Rail with 26 years service, a veteran of the Korean War having served with the 4th Field Squadron of the Royal Canadian Engineers, a former member of the Magnetic Hill Golf and Country Club, an avid hunter, and bowler, especially ten pin. He is survived by two daughters: Jeannine Berube (Ed) of Scoudouc, Doris Ayles (Adelard) of Moncton; three sons: Paul (Fernande) and Tony (Peggy) of Dieppe, Peter at home; 13 grandchildren: Monique and Danny Berube, Kim, Nicole, Monique , Rick, Sabrina, and Ray Leger; Jason, and Brian Ayles; Christa, Shawn, and Jennifer MacDonald; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jerry and Ronald (Angie); numerous nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents, he is also predeceased by his best friend and wife of 58 years Ida (Leger) Leger, a son, George, a daughter, Theresa, and a granddaughter Michelle. At Ray's request, no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held Friday, February 8 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St.-Louis-de-France Roman Catholic Church, Lewisville. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. Memorial donations to the Dr. G.-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care) would be appreciated by the family. Mrs. H. Leger -
The death of Mrs. Henrie (Marquerite) Leger of 888 Champlain Street, Dieppe, occurred in Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital December 25. Born on Prince Edward Island, she was a daughter of the late George Sivret and attended St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Clarence LeBlanc (Mary) of Windsor, Ont., Mrs. Hartley Mitton (Rita), Mrs. George Calem (Rose), Mrs. Robert LeBlanc (Anna), Mrs. Raymond Leger (Ida) with whom she resided; one son, Anthony of Lewisville; one sister, Mrs. Caroline Duguay of Tracadie and one brother, Joseph, of Moncton; 27 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The body is resting at Frenette's funeral home with service this morning at 10 o'clock at St Theresa Roman Catholic Church and entombment at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery.
