    The death took place last evening at Providence St. Joseph's Home here of Calixte Leger, aged resident of the home. The deceased had been ill for a lengthy period of time. He was a native of Little Cape Parish of Botsford and was 74 years of age. The funeral will be held on Monday morning with requiem high mass in the chapel at the Home, conducted by the chaplain, Rev. Father Melanson.

    Buried at Great Shemogue Shediac, Oct 2 -
    Calixte Leger, a highly respected resident of Little Cape, Parish of Botsford, died late Saturday night at the Providence St. Joseph Home here after a long illness. Mr. Leger was 72 years of age. He is survived by three sons, Alphonse, Raymond and Phillip, all of Little Cape and two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Cormier, and Mrs. Annette Comeau, both of Shemogue. The funeral was held at 8 this morning at St. Timothy's Church. Great Shemogue, the pastor, Rev. Father Camille LeBlanc, officiating.

    BURNS, Robert Frederick (Checker) -
    76, 29 Albion St., Amherst, died April 23, 1997, in Moncton City Hospital. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Walter and Catherine (Hughes) Burns. He was a veteran of the Second World War, and member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Amherst. Following the war, he re-enlisted in the Armed Forces and was discharged in 1970. He was employed with Bendex Mobile Homes and later, with Enamel & Heating Co. He was a member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Theresa Legere; daughter, Irene (Mrs. Ed Chevarlie), Moncton, N.B.; sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Kent, Mrs. Hilda Fowler, Amherst; brother, Bill, Springhill Junction; a granddaughter. He was predeceased by sister, Irene Lutes; brothers, Jack, Harry. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m., parish prayers 3 p.m., legion service 7 p.m., all today in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Rev. J.B. Christensen officiating. Burial later in spring in St. Charles/Nativity of Our Lady Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association.

He is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Mrs. Robert Burns), Roberta (Mrs. Mark Corbett) Rosella (Mrs. Gordon Edgett), all of Amherst; four sons, Ronald, Amherst; Lorenzo, Henry, both of Moncton, N.B.; Paul, Chelmsford, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Comeau, Amherst; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lucy Jacob; a sister, Matilda; two brothers, Alphonse, Philip. The body is in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, visiting 2-4 p.m. today. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Father Louie Caissie officiating. Burial will be in St. Timothy Cemetery, Shemogue, N.B.
