Biographical information / Informations biographiques

had lived in Fitchburg for most of his life. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1947, and from Fitchburg State Teachers College in 1951. He graduated with a master's degree in 1957 from Fitchburg State College, and with a doctorate from Boston University in 1960. He later earned a fellowship from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and did post-graduate work at Harvard University, both in Cambridge. After teaching in the Fitchburg public schools for several years, Mr. Legere joined the Army Security Agency at the former Fort Devens in 1959, serving as an educational advisor and senior research advisor to the Intelligence School Commander. He also acted as an advisor and consultant on occupational analysis to other U.S. and Allied military services and a variety of defense and military agencies. Following his retirement, in 1990, he published the "After Action Report" a quarterly nostalgia report of military intelligence events. He was awarded the US Army Decoration for Meritorious Civilian Service, and was cited by several federal agencies, as well as the governments of allied nations, for his contributions to their training programs. Mr. Legere was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fitchburg Council No. 99, and was comptroller for the local Bishop Bevan Assembly, Fourth Degree. He was also treasurer of the Association of Old Crow's, an international electronic defense association, which awarded him a lifetime achievement award in 1999. A member of St. Bernard's Church, he served as a lector and Eucharistic minister for 25 years before becoming ill.1
