  • Occupation:. In early life he came to Moncton and opened one of the first tonsorial parlors on Main street, which he conducted successfully for thrity-five years. He then returned to Leger Corner where he went into business as a general merchant, from which he retired about a year ago, due to impaired health. He later underwent a serious operation, the result of which for a time seemed to have been beneficial but this proved only temporary. About nine months ago he removed to Moncton to make his home and since that time had resided on Queen Street East. The late Mr. Leger's activities were not confined in later years to the general store business. For a period of twenty years he also faithfully and painstakingly discharged the duties of Post Master at Leger Corner. In addition, he was for a period of years district highway commissioner and his effective supervision of road and bridge work in the area he covered was to be found in excellent condition of these much-used facilities of travel. He was also a Justice of the Peace for the County of Westmorland for many years. Possessing an amiable manner always, coupled with a genial disposition and kindly qualities of heart and mind, the deceased formed and retained a wide circle of friends, to whom his demise will bring deep personal loss, for he was held in the highest of esteem wherever he was known. In religion, the late Mr. Leger was a devout Roman Catholic and was a member of L'Assomption Parish. In politics, he was a staunch Conservative and a firm believer in the National Policy as being the best for Canada.2
