    M. Yvon F. Léger, de St-Antoine de Kent, est décédé à son arrivée a l'hôpital Stella-Maris de Sainte-Anne de kent, le samedi 4 septembre à l'âge de 62 ans.

    Né à Saint-Antoine, il était le fils de Fred et Belzémé (Breau) Léger.

    Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, née Lorraine Gaudet, une fille et quatre fils: Mme Edgar Guillette (Adrienne) de Marlborough, Mass.; Victor, de St-Antoine; Léonard, de Moncton; Roger, du Québec, et Paul-Eugène, de St-Antoine, Un autre fils, Emile, l'a précédé dans la tombe en 1965. Il laisse également dans le deuil deux soeurs et deux frères; Mme Emile Richard (Irène), de Shédiac; Mme Aquila Surette (Dorilla), de St-Antoine; Léandre, de Rhode Island; Ovila, de Cocagne, ainsi que sept petits-enfants.

    RICHIBUCTO - Mr. Irenee Chevarie, 76, of Richibucto passed away on Thursday, March 20, 1997 at the Dr. Georges L.Dumont Hospital, Moncton, following a brief illness.

    Born in St. Charles, N.B., he was the son of the late Pacific and Sara (Leger) Chevarie. He had worked for A.E. Mundle and was with Sanitoy Inc. until retirement. He attended St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto.

    He is survived by a special friend, Herculine Allain; three daughters, Jeannette Flaggs (Russel), Antoinette Banks (David) and Rita Racine (Rick), all of Fitchburg, Mass.; one son, Jeffery Chevarie of Fitchburg, Mass; 8 stepsisters, Alma Richard (Leonide) of St. Norbert, Bernadette LeBlanc (Lionel) of Moncton, Rose-Eva Thibodeau (Eli) of St. Norbert, Bertha Saulnier (Basil) of Richibucto, Aline Gibbs (Edward) of Inkerman, Cecile Peitraszko (Henry) of Aldouane, Margaret Comeau (Vincent) of Richibucto, Germaine Comeau (Roger) of Aldouane; four stepbrothers, Alphonse Daigle of Rexton, Aldenc Daigle of Saint John, Romeo Daigle of Aldouane, Ernest Daigle of Aldouane; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Anne Gionet; one stepsister, Beatrice Boucher; three stepbrothers, Ben, Gerald and Roger.

    Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252) with visiting hours on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until time of funeral. Funeral service to be held at St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto on Monday, March 24, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Aldouane Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in the spring.

    TRUCKER KILLED AT PICTOU
    Pictou - Aquila Legere, 53, was killed early Wednesday when the large lobster truck we was driving left the road on the Sunrise Trail near Melville Corner, 15 miles west of here.Pictou RCMP said that he was alone at the time of the accident and that it is believed the left rear wheel came off the truck, causing it to leave the road. The truckman, from Cocagne, Kent County, N.B. was hauling a load of lobsters towards the New Brunswick line at the time.The accident was investigated by Constable Quinn andMacAllister of the RCMP.An inquest opened at MacLaren's Funeral Home last night. After the body was identified, it was adjourned until a later date.

    Mme J. Aurele Alain (née Léger) est décédée subitement le 26 décembre à l'âge de 84 ans à l'Hôpital Général Chaleur de Bathurst.

    Mme Alain est déménagée dans la région de Bathurst à l'âge de 4 ans où son père est devenu le premier propriétaire du Gloucester Motor Motel. Il a aussi été le premier à opérer un plant de production d'électricité à Bathurst.

    La défunte faisait partie de la paroisse Cathédrale Sacré Coeur de Bathurst où elle oeuvrait au sein du C.W.L.

    Elle laisse dans le deuil quatre garçons : Yvon de Fredericton, Dr. J. J. Alain de Bathurst, Edmond et Maurice, d'Ottawa; deux filles : Mme Mark Neville (Jacqueline) de Bathurst; Mme Robert Fougere (Paulette) de Cape Cod, Mass; une soeur : Mme C. J. Vienot (Mary), deux frères : Léo J. Léger et le docteur Edmond Léger, tous de Bathurst, 28 petits-enfants et 8 arrière petits-enfants.

Né à Saint-Antoine de Kent, il était fils de feu Jadus LeBlanc et de feu Marie Léger.

    Il laisse dans le deuil trois filles: Stella (Clarence Richard), et Jeanne (Aldérice Léger), toutes deux de Saint-Antoine de Kent, et Florence (Joseph Cormier) de Bouctouche; deux fils: Clarence (Marguerite), et Adrien (Antoinette), tous deux de Saint-Antoine de Kent; une soeur, Ida Cormier du Foyer Saint-Antoine de Saint-Antoine de Kent; deux frères: Albert et Alphonse, tous deux de Saint-Antoine de Kent, ainsi que 24 petits-enfants et 22 arrière-petits-enfants.

    Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil trois filles: Lucille Martineau (Normand) de Rumford, Me, Donald Daub (Patrick) de Fort Francis, Ont., et Huberte Melanson de Fort McMurray, Alberta; sept fils: Rév. Fernand de Caracas, Venezuela, Victor et Maurice (Jacqueline), tous deux de Montréal, Léonard (Viola) de Beresford, Ronald (Denise) de Sudbury, Ont., Louis-Philippe (Annette) de Saint-Antoine, et Jacques-René (Lorraine) de Tide Head, ainsi que 16 petits-enfants, 15 arrière-petits-enfants et plusieurs neveux et nièces.

    Trois frères: Floribert, Évariste et Henri, ainsi que quatre soeurs: Dométhilde, Julie, Sara et Sr Jeanne-de-Valois, l'ont précédé dans la tombe.

    M. Léger était le dernier survivant de sa famille immédiate. Avant sa retraite, il était propriétaire d'un moulin.

    La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 19h, ce jeudi 6 juillet, à la Maison funéraire Frenette, rue Principale à Saint-Antoine. Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Saint-Antoine-l'Ermiste de Saint-Antoine, le samedi 8 juillet, à 11h et de là, au cimetière paroissial.

    Thomas "Tom" Aldrich Lannigan, 84, of Moncton passed away Friday, December 2, 2005 at The Moncton Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born August 12, 1921 in Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lena (Grant) Lannigan. He was a Correctional Officer for 24 years, having retired in 1971, then employed at SEARS until 1981. Tom was a veteran of W.W.2, having served overseas as a Flight Sergeant with the RCAF, a member of the Sunny Brae Legion # 54, and attended the Anglican Church. He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Leger) Lannigan; two daughters, Susan Devarennes (Paul) of Sackville, and Sandra Acosta (Dr. Louis) of California; a son, Michael (Lynne) of Shediac; eight grandchildren, Kimberly (Daniel), Beverly (Blake), Bradley (Erin), Devin, Lisa (Dave), Tricia (Jon), Matthew (Marlêne), and Tanya (Jeff); seven great-grandchildren, Brandan, Breanne, Bethany, Ella, Tristan, Gillian, and Jaida; a special niece, Sharon Lannigan-Davis. He was predeceased by is first wife, Thelma (Philbrick) Lannigan (1975); a brother, Grant; sisters, Julia and Mary; a grand-daughter, Rhonda; and a great-grandson, Brodie Thomas John. Visitation Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858- 1900) from where the funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Stockhall officiating. Interment will be in Sackville Cemetery. The Veterans will hold a service of remembrance at 6:45 p.m. Monday evening from Frenette's.     ST-ANTOINE - Mrs. Ida Cormier, 96, widow of the late Richard Cormier of Foyer St-Antoine passed away Monday, March 17, 1997 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital.

    Born March 23, 1900 in Saint-Antoine-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Jaddus LeBlanc and the late Marie Leger.

    She is survived by two sons, Laurie (Rose) and Willie (Raymonde) Cormier both of Moncton; two brothers, Alphonse and Albert (Exelda) LeBlanc both of Saint-Antoine; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Exelda Arsenault and a brother, Hector.

    He is survived by a daughter Jeannette Cormier (Charles-Yvon) of Ste-Marie; three sons, Roger (Annette) and Réjean Melanson of Ste-Marie, Gilles (Kelly) of Pembrooke, Ont.; four sisters, Dorilla Nowlan (Laurie) of Ste-Marie, Ella Melanson, Irène Landry (Omer) of Ste-Marie, and Simonne Jeffrey (Clarence "Jeff") of Moncton; three brothers, Fernand (Claudette) of Ste-Marie, Paul (Lola), Antoine Melanson of Moncton; a granddaughter Mélanie; several nieces and nephews. His wife, the late Dora (Arsenault) Melanson, a step-father Aldeo Allain, and a sister Blanche Cormier predeceased him.

    Remains resting at N.-D.-du-Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Ste-Marie with visiting hours Monday, May 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 20, from 2 to 4 and from 6:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, may 20, 1997 at 7 p.m. from N.-D.-du Carmel Roman Catholic in Ste-Marie with Father Georges Léger officiating.     The death of Mrs. J. Aurele Alain, a member of a well - known Bathurst family occurred Thursday at Chaleur General Hospital where she was a patient in recent weeks. A native of Bouctouche, Mrs. Alain, the former Rejeanne Leger, spent most of her life in Bathurst, moving here with her family at the age of four. She was the daughter of John P. Leger, well known New Brunswick businessman of his day, and original owner of the Gloucester Motor Hotel in Bathurst. The deceased's father introduced electricity to the Bathurst area. Mrs. Alain's mother was the former Osithe Cormier of Buctouche. Her husband one of the first to enter the insurance field on the North Shore, died in 1949. Mrs Alain's interests were confined to her family, home and church, and until she became ill, she was active in such organizations as the CWL and the Ladies of St. Anne of Sacred Heart Cathedral and Sanitorium and Hotel Dieu Ladies Auxiliaries. Surviving are four sons, Yvon of Fredericton, Dr. E. J. J. Alain of Bathurst, Edmond and Maurice, both of Ottawa; two daughters, Mrs. Mark Neville (Jacqueline) and Mrs. Robert Fugere (Paulette) of Cape Cod, Mass.; one sister, Mrs. C.A. Mary Venoit; two brothers, Leo J. and Dr. Edmond J. Leger, both of Bathurst; 28 grandchildren. The body is resting at Elhatton's funeral home. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

    Mrs. Edward Leger -
    Following an illness of three years' duration, Mrs. Edward Leger, Spring street, passed away in the City Hospital yesterday morning. Death had been expected for the past few weeks but it came a a severe shock to her immediate family an friends. Mrs. Leger was held in high esteem by all who knew her and her passing is regretted. She was born 65 years ago in St. Mary's Kent County, and came to Moncton in 1912 and had resided here since that time. Mrs. Leger was a member of L'Assomption Church and prior to her illness was actively associated with the social and religious work of the parish. She was a woman of fine character and was highly respected by many friends throughout Kent and Westmorland counties. Surviving are her husband and six sons, Henry, Fidele, Alban, Sylvain, Levi and Zoel, all of Moncton. The body is resting at Alban Leger's residence, 132 Lester avenue and the funeral will take place on Saturday morning with service in L'Assomption Church. Interment will be made in Shediac Road cemetery.

    Jeannette LeBlanc passed away Friday morning, December 14th at the Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston after a long illness. She was 68. Born on May 24, 1939 in Dorchester, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Rene and Ozelie (Leger) LeBlanc. She has been a Waltham resident for over 40 years. A retired registered nurse, Ms. LeBlanc had been employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford. She had graduated nursing school at the now George Dumont Hospital in Moncton, New Brunswick. Ms. LeBlanc is survived by her sister, Carmel and her husband, Richard Ahern of Ashland and her brothers, Leo LeBlanc of Waltham, Dolan and his wife, Doris LeBlanc of Bathurst, NB and Raymond and his wife, Audrey LeBlanc of Bowmanville, ON. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, Trapelo Road, Waltham, at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date in New Brunswick. A native of Prince Edward Island the deceased was formerly Miss Mary Arsenault, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Arsenault of that place. She was eighty years of age. Mrs. Allain was well and favorably known and her passing comes as a sad shock to a host of friends and relatives. She is survived by three daughters and four sons. The daughters are Mrs. Robert Thibodeau, of Rogersville; Mrs. Ernest LeBlanc and Mrs. Victor Fournier, of Salem, Mass.; and the sons are, James of Saint John; Louis, Arthur and Edmund, of Buctouche. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Dan Leger and Mrs. Sam Casey, of Fitchburg, Mass., and two brothers. John Arsenault, of Fitchburg, Mass., and Albert Arsenault, of New York. The funeral took place Saturday morning from the Allain home to St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, where service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Phillip Hebert. Interment was made in the Roman Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers were, Messrs. E. McPherson, Oliver A. LeBlance, Melas Collet, Fred Babineau, Francois A. Allain and T. Allain.

    Télesphore "Telex" Cormier (1918 - 2008) -
    Telesphore "Telex" Cormier, 89, of Murphy Ave., and formerly of Redmond St., Moncton passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton following a brief illness. Born November 10, 1918 in Scoudouc, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Maillet) Cormier. Telex was a conductor/brakeman with C.N.R. for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1980. A Veteran during the Second World War, he served in the Newfoundland Artillery with the Royal Canadian Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus, Council 1310, and a member of the Club d'âge d'or and Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church in Humphrey. He and his wife spent 30 summers at the Ocean Surf Trailer Park. He was also an avid 200 card player. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by wife of 58 years, Yvonne (Léger) Cormier; two daughters, Paulette Léger (Maurice) of Grand-Barachois, Gisèle Arsenault of Jupiter, Florida; one son, Roger (Catherine) of Moncton; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Dr. Yves, Luc, Kurt, Mathieu, Gabrielle; one great grandson, Olivier, and by several nieces, nephews and friends. He was the last member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by five sisters, Laura, Irène, Mélina, Hermeline and Victorine; and by five brothers, Abel, Laurie, Henri, Arthur, and Théophile. Visitation at Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 88 Church St., Moncton (858-1900) on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until time of departure 10:40 a.m. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church, Humphrey. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dieppe. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L.     Mrs. Simon LeBlanc
    The funeral of Mrs Simon (Cormier) LeBlanc, 66, wife of Simon LeBlanc, who died Wednesday, will be held tomorrow, from her late home, 124 Daniels St., with a solemn high mass of requiem at St. Joseph's church at 9 o'clock. A native of New Brunswick, Mrs. LeBlanc had lived here for the last 22 years. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Ladies of Charity at St. Joseph's Church.
    Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Patrice Cormier, Miss Bernadette LeBlanc of this city and Sister Elizabeth of the Sacred Heart order, Berkshire, Canada, three sisters Mrs. Dominic LeBlanc, Mrs. Sigfroid Drysdelle and Mrs. Emilien Leger all of New Brunswick and 5 grandchildren.
