    LEGERE, Archibald -
    89, Springhill, died March 18, 1995, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late James C. and Alice (White) Legere. He was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Springhill and Royal Canadian Legion, branch 17. He served overseas during the Second World War and worked approximately 35 years in coal mining in Springhill, followed by several years as a commissionaire in Halifax and with security at HMC Dockyard. Surviving are sons, James, Springhill; Jack, Oxford; Francis, Lower Sackville; Leo, Toronto; Douglas, Picton, Ont.; brothers, Lloyd, Edward, Springhill; sister, Mrs. Hazel Embree, Springhill; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Margaret McNeil; brother, Alfred; sister, Edna Totten. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, legion service 7 p.m. Tuesday in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Rev. David MacDonald officiating. Spring burial in church cemetery, North Street.

    M. Cyrille Léger, de Cocagne, est décédé Samedi le 6 avril à l'hôpital Stella Maris de Ste-Anne-de-Kent, après quelques heures de maladie, à l'âge de 90 ans et six mois.

    Il était le fils de feu Joseph et Geneviève Breau-Léger. Il était pêcheur et cultivateur de métier.
    Il laisse dans le deuil une fille; Mme Emery Richard (Laudia), de Cocagne, un frère; M. Maxime Léger, de Cocagne, et trois petits-enfants.

    La dépouille mortelle est actuellement exposée à la maison funéraire Frenette, de Bouctouche, d'où le cortège funèbre partira aujourd'hui pour se rendre en l'église de Cocagne, où une messe de requiem sera chantée est après-midi à 3h30.

    La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée au salon funéraire Frenette à Shédiac.

    Les funérailles auront lieu lundi matin à 10 heures en l'église de Grande-Digue. La dépouille sera placée dans le charnier paroissial en attendant l'inhumation un peu plus tard au printemps.

    Née le 18 juin 1891 à Memramcook, elle était la fille de feu Thaddée et de Nathalie (LeBlanc) Landry de cette paroisse. Elle faisait part de la Société des Dames de Sainte-Anne de la paroisse du Christ-Roi.

    Outre son mari, elle laisse dans le deuil deux filles, Mme Antoine LeBlanc (Hélène) de La Hêtrière et Mme André Belliveau (Thérèse) de Moncton; trois fils, Henri, Yvon et Léo-Paul, tous de Moncton; trois soeurs, Mme Emma Léger de Greenville, N.H., Mme William Chisolum et Mme Georges LeBlanc de Connecticut; un frère, Henri Landry de St-Joseph; 29 petits-enfants ainsi que huit arrières petits-enfants.

    La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée au salon funéraire Frenette, 88, rue Church, Moncton. Les funérailles auront lieu jeudi matin à 9h30, en l'église du Christ-Roi de Moncton. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière Notre-Dame du Calvaire de Chartersville, au printemps.

    MRS. ARCHIE LEGERE,
    65, of 20 Morris Street, Springhill, will be buried today following funeral service in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with Rev. Arthur Alexander officiating. She died Tuesday at her home. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. McNiel. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons, James and Francis, both in Springhill; Jack and Leo, both in Toronto; Douglas, Picton, Ont.; four sisters, Bona (Mrs. Raymond Noiles), Effie (Mrs. Albert Ellis), Rhoda (Mrs. Robert Ryan), all of Springhill; Kathleen (Mrs. Eldon MacKenzie) Toronto; two brother, Allan, Springhill and Roddie, Manitoba. Committal service will be held in Amherst Cemetery recieving vault with burial in North Street Cemetery, Springhill, later in the Spring.

    The death of Pascal Richard occurred early Friday morning following several weeks of ill health. He was 72. Born in St. Anne, Mr Richard held various jobs during his lifetime, one of which was operating the first bus service between Cocagne and Moncton. He is survived by his wife the former Amanda Goguen; five daughters, Mrs. Alfred Leger (Eva), Cocagne Cape, Mrs. Edgar Despres (Lea), Cocagne, Mrs. Romeo Melanson (Doris), Cocagne, Mrs. Robert Fougere (Ethel), Waltham, Mass., Mrs. Joe Despres (Florence), Calgary: six sons, Adelard, Lionel, Laurie, Leandre, Henry, Arthur, Cocagne; one sister, Mrs. Fred Goguen, Pittsburgh; 44 grand-children, and two great grand-children. The body is resting at his home, Cocagne, with funeral service to be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Cocagne.

    Langis, Eugenie (Jean)

    It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Jean Langis on Saturday, March 13, 1999. Born Eugenie Legere in Shediac, New Brunswick on February 11 , 1918, she married Alonzo Langis on June 10, 1940. To accommodate Al's career with the Canadian Pacific Railway, they moved to Sudbury in 1945, then to Marathon in 1946. Here, they settled raising four children. Jean was a manager of the Strand Theatre for many years, ending her working career with the Hudson Bay Co. She was an active outgoing lady. Playing Bridge was a favourite event on her social calender. Over the years she played with the Marathon Bridge Club and with her own weekly club - a group of friends who enjoyed the game and the time spent visiting. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens' Club, being an active member for many years. Entertaining family and friends was an "event" and everyone was made to feel welcome and guaranteed a time to remember. Her greatest love was to be surrounded by her family, sharing in many of their experiences. Jean was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, and was always supportive, offering encouragement and love. Surviving children are: Jeannette Bromley (Winston) Langley, B.C.; John Langis (Frida) Thunder Bay; Louise Hamilton (Roger) Marathon and Alain Langis, Calgary Alberta. Grandchildren are: Kevin, David and Trevor Bromley, British Columbia; Paul Langis, Thunder Bay; Erin Langis, Toronto; Michael Hamilton, Winnipeg; Dana Schwantz, Marathon; Terri Hamilton, Niagara Falls. She was also the proud great grandmother of ten. Also surviving are two brothers and on sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Alonzo (Al) Langis, December 24, 1989, daughter Claudette in infancy, her parents and brother Aldrice. A Memorial service is to be held in Marathon on Tuesday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Saviour Catholic Church. Mom greatly valued her friends - they were a big part of her life. She was truly grateful for the visits, loving letters, cards and gifts they bestowed upon her, especially in the last two years. Forever in our Thoughs Mom.

    Frederick F. Leger, 84

    FITCHBURG- Frederick F. Leger, 84, formerly of 181 Hurd St., an avid golfer and retired paper maker, died yesterday in Birchwood Manor Care Center after a short illness.

    He leaves his wife, Blanche M. (Provencher) Leger; a son, Frederick P. Leger of Groton; a brother, Arthur S. Leger of Fitchburg; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Shediac, New Brunswick, son of Fidel and Rosana (Richards) Leger, and lived here most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

    Mr. Leger was a paper maker for Weyerhaueser Paper Co. for more than 40 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the St. Joseph Club, and American Legion Post 429. An avid square dancer and golfer, he also enjoyed working with wood.

    The funeral will be held tomorrow from Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 46 Woodland St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1 Kendall Square, Building 600, Cambridge 02139.

    John B. Leger Dies at Age 47 - Barachois (Special) -
    The death of John Baptiste Leger, 47, occurred suddenly on Wednesday evening at his home in Barachois. Mr. Leger was a carpenter by trade, and had worked on Wednesday in Moncton, where he was employed by the Macbeath Constuction and Supply Company, Ltd. He became ill that evening, and was pronouced dead when medical aid arrived. He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Terriault; one son, Gerald, and a daughter, Jeannine, both at home; one sister, Mrs. Elionora Leger, of Barachois, three brothers, Alphee, of Fitchburg, Mass., Stanislas of Shediac, and Edgar of Barachois. The body is resting at the home, from where the funeral will be held to the St. Henri de Barachois Church on Saturday morning at nine o'clock. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

    Alphee Robichaud -
    The death of Mr. Alphee Robichaud occurred on Saturday morning, March 4th, 1922, at 6 o'clock. Mr. Robichaud was a well known merchant of this city. Death occurred at his residence 15 king Street, at the age of 61 years. The deceased had been in failing health for the past six months. He is survived by his wife, three sons and five daughters. The sons are Alfred and Leo of St. Joseph's College, and Raymond, at Home. The daughters are Lina, Leola, Yvonne and Rita of the St. Louis Convent, and Geneva at home. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters. The brothers are Michael, of Notre Dame, Kent Co., Aime in U.S.A., and Marcel of this city. The sisters are Mrs. Francis Hebert, Mrs. Thomas Gallant of Notre Dame, And Mrs. Louis Leger of Leominster, Mass. The deceased was well known in Moncton, having been a resident here for the past thirty-five years. He had a large circle of friends who will deeply regret to learn of his demise.     Mrs. Mary Jane Legere -
    Word was received in Amherst this morning of the death in Worcester, Mass., of Mrs. Mary Jane Legere, a former resident of Amherst, who has been residing in the Massachusetts city for several months with son Edmund. While her son, Valerie, in Amherst, had received word of her illness he did not realize that it was so serious until he received a telegram this morning advising him of her death. Mrs. Legere was taken ill with pneumonia but recovered from the attack, only to develop plerisy. This illness with a combination of other complaints proved fatal. Mrs. Legere will be well remembered in Amherst and her many friends and relatives will learn with sorrow of her death. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Frank D. Cormier, six sons, Frank, Montreal, Valerie, Amherst, Arthur in Moncton, and Edmund , Joseph and Henry in Worchester; also two daughters, Mrs. Charles Gould, amd Miss Tillie of Worcester. Her husband, the late Joseph Legere, predeceased her nine years ago. Two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Allan of Amherst, and Mrs. William LeBlanc, Montreal; and two brothers, Jude (Bud Carman), New York, and Frank Cormier, also survived her. The remains are expected to arrive in Amherst on Friday and will be conveyed to the home of her son, Valerie Leger, Patterson Street. The funeral will be held from St. Charles Church on Saturday morning.

    After a lingering illness extending for about three years, the death occurred in City Hospital yesterday afternoon at four o'clock of Mrs. William Cormier, of 25 Harper Street, this city. The deceased was 57 years of age and was a native of Cape Bauld, being formerly Miss Helena LeBlanc, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Phillip LeBlanc, of that place. She had resided in Moncton for several years. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons, Adelard, of Amherst, N.S.; Phillip, Raymond, Alfred and Lawrence, at home, and five daughters, Anne, Helen, Laura, Eva and Bertha, all at home. One sister, Mrs. James Leger, of Springhill, N.S., and one brother, Oliva LeBlanc, of Minto, N.B., also survive. The funeral will be held on Tuesday morning to L'Assomption Church for requiem high mass at eight o'clock, after which interment will be made in Shediac Road cemetery.

    Elsie Leger FITCHBURG -
    Elsie (LeBlanc) Leger, 90, of Leominster Crossings and formerly of 279 Daniels St. and 110 St. Joseph Ave., died Friday, Oct. 21, at the HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster. She was the widow of Edmond Leger, who died in 1982. Mrs. Leger was born in Fitchburg, Jan. 6, 1915, a daughter of Philomon and Melina (Richard) LeBlanc and was been a lifelong Fitchburg resident. Mrs. Leger had worked in the cafeteria at Fitchburg High School for 10 years, retiring in 1980. Prior to that she worked as an upholsterer at Selig Company. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fitchburg and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the retired Women’s Club. Mrs. Leger also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and pinochle. Mrs. Leger enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Leger is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. and Paula Leger of Leominster; two daughters and son-in-laws, Diane and Joseph Thibaudeau of Ashby and Deidre and Paul Pierce of Burlington. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Leon J. LeBlanc, Lionel LeBlanc and Edgar LeBlanc, all of Fitchburg.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg.     COCAGNE - À l’Hôpital Stella-Maris de Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, le jeudi 8 février 2001, à l’âge de 83 ans, est décédée Léona Allain, domiciliée à Cocagne. Elle était fille de feu Adenis Allain et de feu Marie-Jeanne Daigle. Elle laisse dans le deuil trois soeurs: Thérèse Léger (Omer) de Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, Nélida Aubuchon de Rouyn Noranda, QC et Jeannette Richard de Sainte-Anne-de-Kent; un frère, Paul (Édith) de Bouctouche, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Deux soeurs: Jeanne et Sr Elizabeth Ann (Anna), ainsi que deux frères: Patrick et Adolphe, l’ont précédée dans la tombe. La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la salle mortuaire de l’église de Cocagne. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Pierre de Cocagne, le vendredi 9 février, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. Heures de visites: le vendredi 9 février, de 14h à 16h. La direction des funérailles a été confiée aux soins professionnels de la Maison funéraire Maillet de Bouctouche.

    Mrs. M. B. Leger -
    Mrs. Marie Blanche Leger, widow of Maxime Leger, of Cocagne died Sunday at the Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital in Moncton after a long illness. She was 82. Born in Cocagne, she was a daughter of the late Pierre Despres and Babee (Bastarache) Despres. She was a retired housewife and attended the Cocagne Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Patrick Richard (Aline), Mrs. Johnny Gallant (Rita), Mrs. Martin Gallant (Alfreda), Mrs. Eric Cormier (Dorise), Mrs. Doe Arsenault (Dorina), Mrs. Donat Collette (Theraise), all of Cocagne; two sons, Alcide and Omer, both of Cocagne; four sisters, Mrs. Syfroid LeBlanc (Minnie) of Barachois, Mrs. John Arsenault (Mina) of Shediac Bridge, Mrs. Emile Martin (Marrie) of St. Louis, and Mrs. Philippe Robichaud (Josephine) of New Burry, Mass.; one brother, Alban Despres of Cocagne; 40 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Her husband died in 1971. The body is resting at the Cocagne Roman Catholic Church where funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in the cocagne Roman Catholic Cemetery.

    Etienne Leger Shediac, Jan. 15 -
    The death of Etienne Leger, of Scoudouc, occurred at the age of four score and nine after a short illness. The deceased, who resided with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Melanson was well known thoughout the district and had a wide circle of friends who will regret to learn of his passing. He leaves to mourn two daughters, Mrs. Charles Melanson, of Scoudouc, with whom he resided, and Mrs. LeBlanc, of New Bedford, Mass. The funeral took place this morning at nine o'clock from Saint Jacques le Majeur Church, Scoudouc, with high mass. The pallbearers were Camille, Armand, and Charles Melanson, Edward Vautour, Albert Pellerin and Fred Gautreau. Many cards of sympathy as well as many spirtual remembrances were evidence of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
