    M. Ernest Gaudet

    M. Ernest Gaudet de Dorchester Crossing, N.-B., est décédé samedi soir à l'hôpital Dumont, de Moncton, à l'âge de 86 ans, après plusieurs semaines de maladie.

    Né à Memramcook, il était le fils de feu Auguste Gaudet et Adèle Melanson de Scoudouc. Il avait travaillé pendant 25 ans avant de prendre sa retraite il y a quelques années, aux ateliers du Canadien National, à Moncton. Son épouse, née Marie Landry, est décédée il y a 11 ans.

    Il laisse dans le deuil, trois filles: Mme Albénie Bourque (Valma), de Dorchester Crossing; Mme Jean Léger (Dorilla) de Los Angeles, Californie; Mme Alyre Caissie (Evelyne) de Shédiac, et Léo, de Dorchester Crossing; deux soeurs; Mme Roseline LeBlanc de Waltham, Mass., et Mme Marie Bourque, de Lynn, Mass.; 23 petits-enfants et 24 arrière-petits-enfants.

    Les funérailles auront lieu mardi matin à 9 heures en l'église St-Jacques de Scoudouc. La dépouille mortelle sera inhumée dans le lot familial au cimetière paroissial de l'endroit. La dépouille mortelle est actuellement exposée à la Maison funéraire Richard, de Shédiac.

    COCAGNE — À l’Hôpital Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncon, le samedi 17 août 1991, à l'âge de 79 ans, est décédé Auguste Belliveau, époux de Marie-Anne Bastarache Belliveau, domicilié à Cocagne. Il était fils de feu Thaddée Belliveau et de feue Ruphine Robichaud.
    Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil une fille, Marie (Gérald Cormier) de Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, deux fils: Léonard de Mindon, Mass., et Ronald de Cocagne, trois soeurs: Edmée LeBlanc de Minto, Alma (Eddée Léger)de Saint-Paul-de-Kent, et Marie (Arthur Collette) de Coal Branch, trois frères: Daniel Saint-Paul-de-Kent, Alfred Shédiac, et Emery de Minto, ainsi que six petits-enfants, deux arrière-petits-enfants et plusieurs neveux et nièces.
    La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée au salon paroissial Saint-Pierre de Cocagne. Les funérailles auront lieu ce lundi 19 août à 19h en l’église Saint-Pierre de Cocagne, et de là au cimetière de Sainte-Marie-de-Kent.
    La direction des funérailles a été confiée à la Maison funéraire Maillet de Bouctouche.

    Le 17 courant, a été enlevée à l'affection des siens, Dame Mélanie Léger, âgée de 98 ans, épouse de feu Magloire Léger, de Shédiac, N.-B., qui l'avait précédé dans la tombe de 27 ans. Elle demeurait à Lynn depuis 12 ans et elle était estimée de toutes ses connaissances.

    La défunte laisse le deuil deux filles: Mlle Zélica Léger, avec qui elle demeurait, et Mme Philippe LeBlanc, de Cap-Pelé; deux fils: M. Arthur Léger, de Waltham, et M. Albert Léger, de Cambridge, aussi de nombreux petits-enfants et arrière petits-enfants.

    Son service a été chanté à l'église St-Jean-Baptiste, par son petit-fils, M. l'abbé Léo Bourque assisté de MM. les abbés Dubé et Vigeant, comme diacre et sous diace. L'inhumation a eu lieu au cimetière de la même paroisse.

    À Port Elgin, le 17 janvier, M. Joseph Léger rendait son âme à son Créateur après sept mois de maladie soufferte avec une résignation édifiante et muni de tous les secours de l'Eglise. Répétant souvent ces paroles: Oh Dieu! que votre volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel. Il endura ses souffrances sans jamais murmurer contre les décrets de la Divine Providence. Il est mort comme il avait toujours vécu, en fervant chrétien, à l'âge de 77 ans et 7 mois. Il laisse pour pleurer sur sa tombe sept enfants, dont cinq garçons et deux filles. Le regretté défunt appartenait au Rosaire Perpétuel, à la ligue du Sacré Coeur et à la Société de l'Ange Gardien. Les funérailles ont eu lieu le 19 janvier au Cap Pelé au milieu d'un grand nombre de parents et d'amis. Que son âme repose en paix.

    The funeral of the late Mr. Cyril B. Leger, who passed away at his home here on April 8th, at the age of 80, was held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The deceased was a very highly respected and esteemed resident of Buctouche as he was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. A host of friends and neighbors will deeply regret his death. he is survived by seven daughters, one son and two sisters. The daughters are: Rev. Sister Rose, of Lima, of the congregation of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Convent of St. Anne, Shediac, N.B., Mrs. Elie Girouard, New Bedford, Mass.; Mrs. Adeiard Millette, Fisherville, Mass.; Miss Adelfne Leger, New Bedford, Mass.; Mrs. Dan Bastarache, Lynn, Mass.; Mrs Andrew Hebert, Buctouche, N.B.; Mrs. Bedford Leger, Shenectady, N.Y. The son is Peter Leger, of Buctouche, The sisters are Mrs. Elzear Goselin, of Buctouche; Mrs. John Doucet of St. Anthony, N.B.. The service at St. John the Baptist Church and at the grave were conducted by rev. Father Phillip Hebert. The funeral was attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends. The pallbearers were Hon. A.A.Dysart, Andrew F. Hebert, Felix Michaud; Michel McLaughlin; Patrick McFadden, Lionide Maillet. A high mass of requiem was sung by Rev. Father Phillip Hebert Monday morning at 8 o'clock, and again were present many relatives and friends. The family received a large number of Mass offerings.     Word was received here on Friday by Hector Leger of the passing of Mrs. Louis Leger, nee Veronique Landry, in Portland, Maine, after a short illness at the age of 94 years. The deceased was a native of Little Cape and was a half sister of the late Henry S. Leger of Little Cape, Mrs. Leger had removed to Portland 40 years ago, and was predeceased by her husband 14 years ago in Portland. She leaves to mourn one son Sylvin and three daughters, Mrs. Caroline Bourque, Mrs. Daniel Wilkeson, and Mrs. Edward Fairweather, all of Portland, Maine. Burial will take place in Portland.

    Vital Leger

    Fitchburg, Mass. June 19 - Vital Leger, 52, of 50 Overland St., well known in Franco-American circles, died on Saturday, June 8, at the Burbank Hospital after an illness of about six weeks. He had been employed for 22 years as electrical engineer by Crocker-Burbank and Co. Association. Mr. Leger was born in Barachois, N. B. He Resided in Fitchburg for 31 years and was president of the local council of the Canada Association, a trustee of Fitchburg Aerie, F.O.E., a member of the St. Camille Assumption, and St. Jean Baptist Societies, of the Cable Club, South End National Club, and Brook Mill Sports Club. Surviving Mr. Leger are his wife, Mrs. Bella (Belliveau) Leger; five daughters, Bertha, Irene, Pauline, Corinne, Joan, two sons, Edgar and John, all of Fitchburg; his mother, Mrs. Celina Leger, of Shediac; three sisters, Mrs. Philippe Landry, of Fitchburg; Mrs. Adelard Boudreau, of Shediac, and Mrs. George LeBlanc, of Barachois; three step-sisters, Mrs. Antoine Bourque, Mrs. Ben Leger, of Shediac, and Mrs. Leonie Cormier, of Upper Aboujagan; two brothers, August, of Fitchburg, and Philip, of Cocagne; one step-brother, Alfred, of Fitchburg. The funeral was held June 13 from Mr. Leger's home with a solemn high mass of requiem in Sacred Heart Church, Rev. John E. O'Toole was celebrant; Rev. John M. O'Brien, deacon and Rev. Armand Barrette, of Immaculate Conception Church, was in the sanctuary. The pallbearers were Leo Collette, Aidie Beauchemin, Joseph E. Laprade, Alfred harrison, Hilaire LeBlanc and Camille Belliveau, members of the various clubs and organizations of which Mr. Leger had been a member. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery, where prayers at the grave were read by Father O'Toole and Daly.

    Mrs. Phelonise LeBlanc, 89, of the Jordon Memorial Home, River Glade, and formerly of Memramcook East, died at the home Saturday following a lengthy illness. Born in Cap Pele, she was a daughter of the late Fernand and Rose Anne (Comeau) Cormier. She was a housewife and attended Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Memramcook East. Her first husband, Denis Leger, died in 1946. Her second husband, Fred LeBlanc, died in 1985. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Marles of Dieppe and Mrs Leonard Rattray (Kay) of Moncton; four sons, Charlie Leger of Kamploops, B.C., Clarence Leger of Toronto, Edgar Leger of Bloomfield, N.B., and Hugh Leger of Hillsborough; four step-sons, Romuald LeBlanc and Camille LeBlanc, both of Memramcook East, Jimmy Leblanc of Ontario and Joseph LeBlanc of Dieppe; Six step-daughters, Mrs. Lucie Pellerin of St. Antoine, Mrs. Ella Gould and Mrs. Yvonne LeBlanc, both of Moncton, Mrs. Annie Melanson of Ontario, Mrs. Ross Melanson of St. Paul and Mrs. Adrien LeBlanc; a sister, Mrs. Domethilde Vautour of Cap Pele; a brother Emerie Cormier of Cap Pele; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A son, Clovis, died previously. Funeral mass was celebrated Monday at Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Memramcook East. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring.     On June 30, 1996, Alphonse Y. Melanson, of Braemar Drive, Moncton passed away.

    He was born in Scoudouc, N.B., on July 1, 1913, the son of the late Alyre Melanson and the late Agnès Babin. A.Y. Melanson had graduated from St. Joseph's University (Memramcook) in Business Administration and completed his education at the University of Western Ontario (London). He established his career at the Provincial Bank (now National Bank of Canada), being Manager at branches in Moncton and Windsor (Ontario) before being promoted to the position of Superintendent of the Bank for the Maritime Provinces. Upon his retirement, he worked with the Investment firm Lévesque-Beaubien-Geoffrion Inc. He was active member in many societies; to name a few, he was treasurer of the Acadian Historical Society, treasurer of Association France-Canada, member of the Richelieu Club (Windsor, Ont.), of the Royal Canadian Legion (Windsor, Ontario). During the Second World War, he served in Canada, Britain and continental Europe.

    He is survived by his wife, Jeannette (née Richard); his eight children, Charles of Moncton, Richard (Valérie Siegel) of Vancouver, B.C., Diane (Claude Drapeau) of Ottawa, Ont., Jeanine (Léon Thériault) of Moncton, Paulette (Michel Allain) of Ottawa, Ont., François (Estelle LeBlanc) of St-Joseph-du-Lac, P.Q., Lorette (Yvon Chiasson) of Fredericton, Marc (Andréa Bourque) of Moncton; by three brothers and one sister, Clément (Pauline Cassidy) of Dieppe, Albina (Gérard Léger) of Shédiac, Edgar (Sara LeBlanc) and Antoine (Thérèse Lavoie), both of Moncton. He was predeceased by his sister, Lorette (Clovis Belliveau). Also surviving him are his twenty grandchildren, Dorian, Aimée, Delphine, Jolaine, Lysanne, Myriam, Gaelle, Mireille, Elise, Jean-Michel, Dominic, Véronique, Matthew, Pierre-André, Catherine, Benoît, Emilie, Sophie, Katia, Simon and many nephews and nieces, as well as many cousins.

    Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton. Visitation hours: Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 6 Moncton will hold a Military Service at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at the Church of Notre-Dame d'Acadie (University of Moncton Parish) on Wednesday, July 3, 1996 at 11 a.m. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe.

    The death occurred on Friday morning at the residence, 29 Maple Avenue, of Francis D. Cormier, one of the veteran French Acadien citizens. The late Mr. Cormier, who was seventy-six years of age, had been ill for the past year, and although his death was not unexpected, it came as a shock to the members of his family, for he had shown certain indications of improvement in health shortly before the end. The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons, Frank, in Amherst, and Jude, in New York, and three daughters, Mrs. Alfred Alland and Mrs. J. Leger, Amherst, and Mrs. W. LeBlanc, Montreal; and one brother, James, of Shemogue. The late Mr. Cormier came to Amherst forty-seven years ago and took up contract work on a small scale. Gradually he increased his business, and until he retired some eight or nine years ago, had held a contract for the foundation work of the Catholic Church, the St Charles School and a number of other large institutions. He also supervised the constuction of the first telephone line between Amherst and Truro, and laid the wooden pipes of the old King Waterworks. Mr. Cormier was the third French Acadien to take up a permanent residence in Amherst, moving here from Cape Bauld.

    It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our loving mother, Lorraine M. Legere (LeBlanc) on Sunday, February 3, 2008. Mom passed away quietly following a stroke at the Villa du Repos. She was 91 years old. How lucky we all were to have such a loving and giving mother in our lives and to whom it is so difficult to say good-bye. She will always be missed and never forgotten. Born in Memramcook, she was the daughter of the late Lucien and Marie (Arsenault) LeBlanc of Gayton. She is survived by her loving sons, Leo (Mae) of Dieppe, Eddie (Lorraine) of Devon, Alberta and Jack (Joanne) of Moncton, brothers; Lionel of Moncton and Leandre of Memramcook and a sister, Alma Melanson of Memramcook; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Legere; sisters, Agnes and Doris, brothers; Fred, Eddie, Narcisse, Allain, Emery, Francis and Albert. Mrs. Leger, who was born in 1840, had lived near Moncton most of her life before removing to Winnipeg, and for the last eight years had resided in Vancouver. She is survived by two brothers, Daniel Leger, of Shediac, N.B., and Thomas, of Walpole, Mass., and four daughters, Mrs. Melanie LeBlanc, of Boston; Miss Barbara Leger, of Winnipeg; Mrs. Philomene Arnau and Mrs. Marie L. Bourque, of Vancouver, with who she resided.
    Note: Should be survived by two sons (Not Brothers).

    Daniel Leger, of the Dorchester Road district, has received word of the death of his mother, Mrs. Severe Leger, in Vancouver, B.C. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marie Bourque, with whom she hed resided for 25 years. The deceased was ninety-six years of age and was formerly Elizabeth Doiron. Mrs. Leger was a native of Leger Corner. She had a keen mind and possessed all her faculties until the end, which was quite sudden. The deceased was a woman of fine christian character, loved by all that knew her. Before her marriage she was a school teacher, first at Minudie, N.S., and for several years in Leger Corner. She is survive by two sons, Daniel, of the Dorchester Road, and Thomas, of Walpole, Mass., also four daughters, Mrs. Melande LeBlanc, of Watertown, Mass.; Miss Barbara Leger, teacher of Winnipeg; Mrs. Philomene Arneau, of Leger Corner, and Mrs. Marie Bourque, of Vancouver. Interment was in Vancouver.

    Mrs. Frank Brine Shediac, March 5 -
    The village of Cape Bauld was saddened on Thursday morning when it was learned that one of its most respected citizens in the person of Mrs. Frank J. Brine (nee Miss Elize LeBlanc), had passed away. The deceased was 57 years of age. She had been a resident of that place all her life, and although she had been ill for the past two years her passing came as a shock to her many friends. She leaves to mourn her husband and two sisters, Mrs. Alphie Leger, of Leger Brook, and Mrs. Jude LeBlanc, in the U.S.A., and one brother, Francis LeBlanc. The funeral service will be held on Saturday morning from St. Therese's Church, Cape Bauld. Rev. Father Donat Robichaud will officiate.

    Death last evening at 11 o'clock removed one of Shediac's oldest residents in the person of Felicien Leger at the age of 86 years. The deceased had been ill for only three weeks and his passing will be mourned by a wide circle of friends both here and in Barachois, where he was born. His passing came as a great shock to his family and friends. He leaves to mourn, his wife (nee Celina LeBlanc) and ten children, (Leonie) Mrs, Arthur Cormier, Upper Aboujagane; (Angeline) Mrs. Anthony Bourque, Shediac; Alfred Leger, Fitchburg, Mass.; (Edith) Mrs. Ben Leger, Shediac; August and Vital Leger, of Fitchburg, Mass.; (Mathilde) Mrs. Philip Landry, of Fitchburg, Mass.; (Polonie) Mrs. Mrs. Adelard Boudreau, Shediac; (Lucie) Mrs. George LeBlanc, of Barachois, and Philip Leger, of Cocagne. The deceased had been residing with Mrs. Adelard Boudreau for the last few years. The funeral arrangements have not been completed but probably will be held on Saturday in Barachois.
