    CAP-PELÉ - À l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncton, le jeudi 29 juillet 2004, à l’âge de 66 ans, est décédée après une longue maladie Maria Édith Cormier, épouse de feu Réginald Cormier (1979), domiciliée à Cap-Pelé. Née à Cap-Pelé le 15 août 1937, elle était fille de feu Ovila Niles et de feu Berthe Thériault. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa famille qui l’aimait, ses trois filles: Bernadine LeBlanc (Ola), Barbara Jacob (Roland) et Noëlla Boudreau (André), toutes de Cap-Pelé; deux fils: Pierre (Monique) de Shédiac et Victor (Sylvie) de Cap-Pelé; une soeur, Dorothée Cormier (Roy) de Cap-Pelé, quatre frères: Eugène (Francine) de Saint-André, Roy (Avis) de Moncton, Hubert (Gaetane) de Miramichi et Françis (Bernice) de Robichaud; 11 petits-enfants: Nadia, Denis, Mélanie, Christine, Sophie, Isabelle, Monique, Julie, Réjean, Nicole et Renée, ainsi que plusieurs nièces, neveux, amis et amies. Mme Cormier a travaillé pour Pêcherie Westmorland, avant de prendre sa retraite. Elle était membre de la Légion de Marie, du comité liturgique, des Dames de Sainte-Anne, des charismatiques et du Club de l’âge d’or de Cap-Pelé. Elle était sacristine pour la paroisse Sainte-Thérèse-d’Avila, membre de l’équipe pastorale des malades, membre du conseil paroissial et bénévole dans la communauté de Cap-Pelé. Elle était une grande femme de foi. Elle s’était fait beaucoup d’amis et amies en faisant plusieurs pèlerinages à Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 19h, le samedi 31 juillet, au funérarium Frenette, 2642, chemin Acadieà Cap-Pelé (577-3297, www.salonfrenette.com). Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Sainte-Thérèse-d’Avila à Cap-Pelé, le lundi 2 août, à 11h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. Heures de visites: le samedi 31 juillet, de 19h à 21h, le dimanche 1er août, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et le lundi 2 août, de 10h à 10h50. À la demande de la famille, un don au Centre d’oncologie de l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont serait grandement apprécié.     Three die in N.B. accidents

    An elderly Albert County man killed Sunday when the farm tractor he was operating overturned was among at least three people to die as a result of motor vehicle mishap in the region over the weekend. New Brunswick Highway Patrol said Simon Harrison, 61, of Stoney Creek died when the farm tractor rolled backwards down a steep driveway into the ditch where the tractor overturned, crushing him. Police said the mishap occurred at about 12:30 p.m. along the stoney Creek Road. No one else was involved. Petitcodiac NBHP members investigated the Mishap. Raymond Leger, 34, of Cap de Cocagne, was killed Saturday night when the vehicle he was driving went out of control in a turn along McKees Mills Road and stuck a utility pole. NBHP said Leger was proceding northeast along McKees Mills about three kilometers from St. Antoine when the mishap occurred shortly before 8 p.m. The lone passenger, identified as Odilon Belliveau, 34, of St. Paul was admitted at Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital Moncton but released Sunday morning. Police said neither occupants were wearing seat belts at the time. Leger was crushed under the vehicle in the mishap, said the spokesperson. Road and weather conditions are good at the time. The road leads to Highway 11 and the Town of Buctouche, NBHP in St. Antoine investigated the crash. Nick Steve LePage, 20, of Dundee, was killed when the car he was driving failled to negotiate a turn along Route 280 in Dundee and overturned serveral times, LePage was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. The crash occurred at about 5:06 p.m. No other vehicle or person was involved. Born in Grande-Digue, Leger was a son of Irenee and Dorice (Babineau) Leger. He was a fisherman by profession and attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Armand Caissie (Maria) of St. Antoine, Mrs. Laurie LeBlanc (Louise) of Cocagne and Miss Dorine Leger of Grande-Digue: several nieces and nephews. The body is at Frenette's Funeral Home, Shediac, Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of Marguerite (Legere) Langille and stepson of, Keith Langille, Parrsboro. He was employed with Toronto Transit Corporation for many years. While in Parrsboro, he was employed at Scott Lumber Mill. Surviving are maternal grandparents, Phillip and Edith Legere, Parrsboro; sons, Keith, Brian, Scarborough; sister, Patti (Mrs. Mark Tibbetts), Parrsboro; four grandchildren. She was born in Joggins, Cumberland Co., on September 26, 1901, and was educated in Truro, Colchester Co. She was a nursing graduate of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. After graduation, she was on the staff of Colchester County Hospital, Truro, then worked as a private duty nurse. She was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in Europe and South Africa as a nursing sister. Upon returning to Canada, she took up residence in Moncton and for several years operated Mills Nursing Home, 12 Dufferin St. She was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6. She is survived by sister, Mrs. Mary Barry, Mississauga, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friend, Clara Stratton. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Joe M. Mills (Moncton) and sister, Anne Delahunt (Riverview, N.B.). There will be no viewing or visitation by her request. A memorial service will be held in Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St., Moncton, on Thursday, September 18, at 7 p.m., Rev. B. Sloan officiating.     Felton Legere Dies at 51 Yarmouth -
    Felton F. Legere, former Member of Parliament for Shelburne-Yarmouth-Clare, died suddenly yesterday at his home in Pinkney's Point. He was 51. Mr. Legere had returned to his home from yarmouth only about ten minutes before suffering a heart attack. He died before a doctor could arrive from Yarmouth, 15 miles away. The son of A. A. (Joe) Legere and the late Mrs. Legere, he was educated at St. Ann's College, Church Point where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree, Following graduation he returned to the fishing community of Pinkney's Point where he was engaged in the fish buying business with his father until 1958 when he was elected to parliament on a Progressive Conservative ticket. He was returned to Ottawa in 1962 but, owing to ill health, he decided against contesting this years April 8 election. Bilingual - Fluently bilingual, he was at home in both French and English and was one of the most popular members in Ottawa. Genial in nature and used to working with fishermen all his life, he was equally at home addressing a large gathering or discussing local problems with the men of small fishing communities. Surviving besides his father and wife, Etta, are three sons, Dr. Aldric Legere, Boston, Michael, at home, Leroy, Ottawa; one sister, Beulah (Mrs. Leo Macdonald), Ottawa. The body is at Huskilson's Funeral Home, Yarmouth, pending funeral arrangements.

    Shediac - (Special) - Odette Leger, 10 year old daughter of Joseph and Jeannita Leger of Robichaud was killed late Friday morning when struck by a car near her home. Leger was Struck while walking along the highway 15 with a companion. The companion wasn't injured, said Shediac RCMP. The youngster was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. RCMP said the mishap occurred at about 11:30 a.m. and an autopsy was performed at the request of the coroner. The dirver, a local area resident, was not identified pending further investigation. Leger was a member of the Barachois Jeannettes, St Henri du Barachois Roman Catholic Church and would have entered fifth grade at the Robichaud School this fall. Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Leo-Paul and Maurice Leger, both at home, and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. The body is at Frenette's Funeral Home, Shediac. The funeral mass will be celebrated 4 p.m. Sunday from the St. Henri du Barachois Roman Catholic Church, Interment will be held in the parish cemetery.

    Yvon Bourgeois, age 100, passed away after a brief illness at his residence, Villa Providence, Shediac, on December 1, 2007. He was a retired Farmer and fishermen and truck driver, self employed for the last fifty years. He was employed with the provincial government, a forman with the dept of highway in Cocagne. Yvon Bourgeois was very well involved in his community, he was the founding member of the Caisse Populaire de Grande-Digue and was the last surviving founding member. He represented the parish of Dundas at the level of Kent county for many years. He attended La-Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue. M. Bourgeois a été cultivateur, pêcheur et camionneur à son compte pendant une cinquantaine d'années. Il fut aussi à l'emploi du gouvernement provincial, au niveau de la voirie, comme contremaître, à Cocagne. M. Bourgeois fut impliqué dans sa communauté. Il était maître chant pendant plus de quarante ans à Grande-Digue, membre fondateur de la Caisse Populaire de Grande-Digue et en a été le président pendant plusieurs années. Il était le dernier membre fondateur. Il représentait la paroisse de Dundas au niveau du conté de Kent pendant plusieurs années. À la demande de la famille, il n'y aura pas de visites à la maison funéraire. Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église La Visitation de Grande-Digue, le mardi 4 décembre, à 16h. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. À la demande de la famille, un don, à la mémoire de M. Bourgeois, au lieu de fleurs, peut être fait à la Fondation Dr-George-L.-Dumont, à la Société canadienne du cancer ou à une oeuvre de bienfaisance de votre choix serait apprécié.     Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil deux soeurs: Exilia (Harvey Young) de Chatham, et Albertine (feu Clément Thibodeau) de Rivière-du-Portage; un frère, Luc (Exilda) de Brantville; ses beaux-frères: Alfred (Maria) d’Acadieville, Gérald Savoie (feu Darka Légère), et Elden Martin (feu Louisa Légère), tous deux de Néguac, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.
    Deux frères: Willie et Archer, ainsi que trois soeurs: Louisa, Darka et sa jumelle Odile, l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
    M. Légère était un vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
    La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Maison funéraire Robichaud de Tracadie-Sheila. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Louis de Brantville, le mardi 10 août, à 14h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial.
