    MRS. ROSE A. LEGERE
    The death occured at her home early Thursday evening Dec 24 of Mrs. Rose Anna Legere of Maccan. Up until six months ago, Mrs. Legere had always enjoyed fairly good health. She was 86 years of age, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bourgeois, born in Grande Dique, N.B. ans lived all her married life in Maccan. She was twice married , her first husband , the late James St. Peter predeceased her in 1912. Her second husband, the late Abner Legere, predeceased her in 1941.
    From her first marriage she is survived by one daughter, Margaret, Mrs. Lawrence Cormier of Toronto; five sons, Henry St. Peter, Joggins; Charles and Harvey, Maccan; Leo, Amherst; Anthony, Southampton. From her second marriage she is survived by one son, Lawrence Legere, Maccan. Also surviving are one half brother and two half sisters and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The remains are resting at her home in Maccan. The funeral service will be held Monday morning at 9 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas, R.C. Church in Joggins. Interment will be in Ragged Reef Cemtery.

    BURNS, Robert Frederick (Checker) -
    76, 29 Albion St., Amherst, died April 23, 1997, in Moncton City Hospital. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Walter and Catherine (Hughes) Burns. He was a veteran of the Second World War, and member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Amherst. Following the war, he re-enlisted in the Armed Forces and was discharged in 1970. He was employed with Bendex Mobile Homes and later, with Enamel & Heating Co. He was a member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Theresa Legere; daughter, Irene (Mrs. Ed Chevarlie), Moncton, N.B.; sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Kent, Mrs. Hilda Fowler, Amherst; brother, Bill, Springhill Junction; a granddaughter. He was predeceased by sister, Irene Lutes; brothers, Jack, Harry. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m., parish prayers 3 p.m., legion service 7 p.m., all today in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Rev. J.B. Christensen officiating. Burial later in spring in St. Charles/Nativity of Our Lady Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association.

    M. Alonzo Joseph LeBlanc, 55 ans, de Saint-Grégoire, est décédé la semaine dernière à la suite d'un accident. Il est mort vers 10h30 p.m., lundi le 23 décembre à la suite de blessures reçues lorsqu'il est tombé hors d'un traineau contenant une charge de bois et qui était tiré par un tracteur conduit par son frère. Un porte-parole de la Gendarmerie Canadienne de Bouctouche a déclaré qu'il n'y aurait pas d'enquête.

    Natif de Bouctouche, il était fils de feu Lévi LeBlanc et d'Ovéline LeBlanc, de Cocagne.

    Outre sa mère, il laisse dans le deuil, trois frères: Lionel, de Bouctouche; Henri, de Saint-Grégoire, avec qui il demeurait; Aquila, de Moncton; quatre soeurs; Mme Lucien Léger (Rose) de Saint-Thomas; Soeur Marie-Victorine, du couvent Sainte-Marie, Soeur Marie-Ermine, de Bathurst, Elise LeBlanc, de Saint-Grégoire.

    Les funérailles ont eu lieu jeudi le 26 décembre en l'église Saint Jean-Baptiste de Bouctouche. Le Père Arthur Gallant a célébré la messe de requiem. Dans le sanctuaire, on remarquait la présence du Père Pascal Arsenault.

    Miss Obeline Leger -
    Memramcook West. Co., N.B., Feb 24 - The death of Miss Obeline Leger occurred here on Monday last at the age of 74. She died suddenly at the residence of her brother, Mr. Dominic Leger. Burial took place at St. Thomas cemetery, St. Joseph's following requiem high mass celebrated by Rev. Father J. Fiset, C.S.C., at 9 o'clock on Thursday morning. The pallbearers, all nephews, were, Hypolite, Narcisse and Ovila LeBlanc, Alfred Leger, Memramcook, also Ferdinand and Arthur Leger, of Moncton. There were many spirtual remembrances as well as several floral tributes received. two brothers survive, Dominic and Jude, of this place.

Un frère, Jude, de Shédiac, et quatre soeurs: Mme Thadée Cormier, de Scoudouc, Mme Thomas Doucet, Lynn, Mass., Mme Blair LeBlanc, de Moncton et Mme Joseph LeBlanc, de Saint-Jean, lui survivent également.

    Born January 29, 1951 in St-Paul de Kent, he was the son of Raymond and Marguerite Léger of St-Paul de Kent. He was a Labourer with Kent Peat Moss in St-Paul de Kent. He attended St-Paul de Kent Roman Catholic Church, St-Paul de Kent.

    Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Noella (Arsenault) Léger of St-Paul de Kent; two daughters, Patsy and Rina, both at home; six sisters, Marie (Donnie Fillmore) of Clairville, Kent Co, Lorr(ine (Gerald Jaillet), Edna (Valmond Henrie), Florine (Léonard Pitre), ail of Waltham, Mass., USA, Emma (Norman Bastarache) of Marlboro, Mass., USA and Alma Léger of Cocagne; seven brothers, Léo (Delcina), Léandre, Oscar, Denis, Laurie, all of St-Paul de Kent, Ben (Joanne) of Natick, Mass., USA and Pierre of Waltham, Mass., USA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Patsy, Geraldine and Alfreda; one brother, Alfred.

    Born in St-Antoine, she was the daughter of the late Michel and Roselie (LeBlanc) Leger. A housewife, she was a former member of Dames Chrétiennes and Dames de Ste~Anne.

    She is survived by two daughters, Cécilia Grondin (Robert) of Grand Falls. Suzanne Gaudet (Léonard) of Lakeside Estates; two sons, Ulysse and Laurie (Laura) of Moncton; three sisters, Bertha Légère of St-Antoine, Bella Belliveau of Leominster, Mass.,USA, Germaine Myers (Bob) of Woodstock, Ont.; one brother, Alyre Leger (Emilienne) of St. Antoine; seven grandchildren, Reginald, Daniel, Annette, Gisèle, Fernand, Pauline, Melissa; nine great grandchildren, Luc, Troy, Celine, Kristopher, Janita, Maria, Jamie, René and Eric. She was predeceased by her husband. Antoine LeBlanc in 1985.

    Rested at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church St, Moncton on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday at Frenette Funeral Home, St-Antoine at 9 until 10:50 a.m. Funeral mass will be held at St-Antoine Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 17, 1996 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Richard officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

    Narcisse Leger - St. Joseph, Oct. 9 -
    Many friends and acquaintances in this community were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Narcisse Leger of St. Joseph, which occurred on Friday night, Oct. 5th, in Moncton. The late Mr. Leger left here by car for Moncton Friday afternoon, accompanied by his wife, and was in his usual good health. A few hours after supper time, about eight o'clock, they decided to return home and as he was about to enter his car he was fatally stricken with a heart attack. Deceased was 81 years of age and is survived by his second wife (nee Sarah Gaudet), two sisters, Mrs. Honore Leger (Melande) of Memramcook and Mrs. Camille Belliveau (Marie) Dorchester Crossing, N.B., and one adopted daughter Mrs. Edmond Robichaud, Moncton. The body was brought to St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon and rested at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Adelard Belliveau, with whom Mr. and Mrs. Leger had been residing. The funeral service was held on Monday morning in St. Thomas Church here with a large number of friends, relatives and parishioners present, showing the high esteem in which the late Mr. Leger was held. The solemn high mass of requiem was sung by Rev. Father Eug. Daoust, pastor of the parish, assisted by Rev. Father Theriault, as deacon and Rev. Father Gendron, as sub-deacon, both curates at the parish. The pallbearers were Leandre Melanson, Lionel Leger, Phelias Melanson, Antoine Melanson, Eugene Bourgeois, and Lucien Belliveau. Relatives from Lynn at the funeral were Mrs. Alfred Bourque, Mrs. Camille Melanson, Allard Landry, Jonny Landry and Eugene Bourgeois.

    The death of Albanie O. Leger occurred at the home of his son, Antoine, Lewisville, early this morning following a long illness.

    He was 82 years old and was the last surviving member of a family of 14. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Octave Leger, Memramcook.

    He is survived by his wife, the former Elise Bourgeois, Memramcook and three sons, Sifroi, Springfield, Mass., Leo, New York and Antoine.

    The body is resting at his son's home, Lewsiville. Funeral arrangements will be annuonced later.

    M. Albéni O. Léger, de Memramcook, est décédé mardi matin chez son fils Antoine, à Lewisville, après une longue maladie. Il était âgé de 82 ans et le dernier de la famille de 14 enfants de feux M. et Mme Octave Léger de St-Antoine.

    Il laisse dans le deuil outre sa femme, Elise Bourgeois, de Memramcook, et ses trois fils, Sifroi, de Springfield, Mass; Léo de New York et Antoine.

    La dépouille est exposé chez son fils Antoine et les funérailles auront lieu jeudi à 8 heures à l'église St-Louis de France de Lewisville suivis de l'inhumtion à Memramcook.

She is survived by five daughters, Lena Elges of Riverview, Jeannine (Euclide) Gauvin, Florida Gagnon, Jeanne (Len) Arsenault, all three of Dieppe and Claudette Surette of Toronto; two sons, Harvey (Lil) of Windsor, ON and Emery (Ella) of Dieppe; 30 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; as well as by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 1978; one daughter, Florence; two sons, Yvon and Alyre; six sisters, Elise, Annie, Marie, Emelia, Jeanne and Alexina; also by one brother, Alyre. Visitation will be held from Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB 857-1901, on Friday, September 7th, 2007 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm and also on Saturday from 10 am until time of service.     Maximin Belliveau -
    The death took place on Sunday at St. Paul, Kent County, of Mr. Maximin Belliveau, at the advance age of 78 years. Mr. Belliveau was born in Scoudouc on March 10, 1847, but later moved to Cape Bauld. From there, while still a young man he went with his father to what was then called Bishopland, Kent Co., and was one of the first settlers there. It was later organized into the parish of St. Paul. The deceased gentleman who was highly respected throughout the community in which he resided for so many years, is survived by 117 descendants, including nine sons, four daughters, ninety-five grandchildren and nine greatgrand children. The sons are Aime, manager of L'Evangeline, Moncton; Alphonse, also of this city; Oliver, Henry and Abel, in Waltham, Mass.; Thaddy, Dominic, Gilbert and Phileas, in St. Paul, Kent County. The daughters are Mrs. Jude Leger, of Scoudouc; Mrs. Arthur Normandeau, Rumford, ME.; Mrs. Albert Arsenault, Salem, Mass., and Mrs. George Hebert of Waltham, Mass. The funeral was held Tuesday at St. Paul Church with Rev. Father L. D. Cormier, parish priest, officiating. the pallbearers were six sons of the deceased, Aime, Dominic, Thaddy, Gilbert, Phileas and Alphonse. PER.

    Mrs. Obeline Leger -
    The death of Mrs. Obeline Leger, wife of Mr. Archie Leger, 179 Weldon street, occurred in the Hotel Dieu yesterday morning following an illness of about four weeks. Mrs. Leger had not been in the best of health for some time and was removed to the hospital for treatment which it was hoped would be of benefit, but she failed to respond to the best of medical skill and nursing care and passed away at the time stated. Mrs. Leger, who was 69 years of age, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Arsenault, of Memramcook, and is survived by her husband, one sister and two brothers. the sister in Mrs. James Melanson, Montreal, and the brothers are Mr. Eloi Arsenault, of Memramcook, amd Mr. Melasse Arsenault, of North Attleboro, Mass. The deceased was highly respected and the news of her death will be received with deep regret by her many friends. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning with solemn high mass of requiem in L'assomption church at 10 o'clock and interment afterwards in Shediac Road cemetery.

The late Mrs. LeBlanc was a native of that place, being before her marriage Miss Marceline LeBlanc, daughter of the late Mr. ans Mrs. Donat LeBlanc. The deceased lady had a wide circle of relatives and friends who will regret her sudden passing. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, five sons and two daughters. The sons are William LeBLanc, of the Grey Buss Line; Alyre of the C.N.R., Moncton; Alfred, of the C.N.R., Montreal; Henry and Joseph, of Waltham, Mass. The daughters are Mrs. Louis Thibodeau, of Brownville, Maine, and Marie, at Home. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lucien LeBlanc, of Memramcook, and Mrs. Alyre Leger, of Moncton, as well as three brothers, Anselme and Adalph LeBLanc, of Memramcook and Albert LeBlanc, of Moncton. The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning from the family home to St. Thomas Church, Memramcook, where requiem high mass will be celebrated at nine o'clock by the rector, Rev. Father Dismas J.     The death occurred last evening at the family home 129 Dominion St., of Mrs. Julianna Cormier, beloved wife of Mr. Olivier Cormier, well known C.N.R. shops employee. Her passing came about 8.30 following an illness of six days duration and she will be mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends. The deceased was 48 years of age and was born at St. Anthony, Kent County, being before her marriage Miss Julianna Breau, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo Breau, of that place. She had resided in the city for many years and was a highly respected member of L'Assomption Church and one of the branches of L'Assomption Society. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn their loss seven sons and two daughters. The sons are Hector and Alphonse, employees of Moncton Fish Market; Adelard, Alfred, Edward, Bernard and Lloyd, all at home. The daughters are Lena, of T. Eaton Co.'s staff, and Edna, student at St. Joseph Convent; Memramcook. One brother, Urbain Breau, of St. Anthony, and six sisters also survive. The sisters are Mrs. Phillip Leger, Moncton; Mrs. Edward Cormier, Notre Dame; Mrs. Lalice Leger, St. Anthony; Mrs. Joseph Leger, Renault's Mills, Kent County; Mrs. Pierre Girouard, Fisherville, Mass., and Mrs. Fred M.     Death occurred to Denis Leger, of this town, on Monday evening at 11:30 o'clock after an illness of three months. Mr. Leger was 57 years of age and a native of Scoudouc where he spent most of his life, removing to Shediac within the last two years. Deceased was in the service of the C.N.R. acting as locomotive fireman on the Shediac branch train for several years. In religion he was a Roman Catholic and was always an active worker in the church and parish work. He leaves to mourn his wife, nee Miss Rosalie Gallant; six sons, Leo, Emile, John Edward, Azarias and Roger at home, and Yvon, student priest in Ottawa; also seven daughters, Graziella, Bernadette, Margaret, Alfreda, Patricia, Denise and Jeannette all at home.     Philip P. Leger Passes Away After Brief Illness -
    A Well Known Resident of City Over Half a Century -
    Death last evening claimed a well known and highly respected citizen of Moncton in the person of Mr. Philip P. Leger, who passed away at the family residence, 25 Belliveau Avenue, after an illness of ten days duration. The deceased had reached the advanced age of 81 years and three months and was active right up until the time he was stricken with serious illness. The late Mr. Leger was born in Memramcook on January 10th 1852 and came to Moncton when a youth. He had resided in the city for over half a century and was one of the oldest citizens. He was a popular figure, his genial disposition and affable manner winning for him a large circle of friends who will deeply regret his passing. During his long residence here he took a keen interest in the welfare of the city of his adoption and could recall many of the interesting happenings of many years ago. When he came to Moncton he was first engaged with T. and E. Taylor, general merchants, later being employed with Mr. J. J. Wallace. he afterwards entered the service of the Old Intercolonial Railway, in the freight department here, and gave many years of loyal and faithful service, retiring under provisions of the Provident Fund Act about 15 years ago. he was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of L'Assomption church. The late Mr. Leger leaves to mourn his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Z.M. Leger and Mrs. Frank Melanson, both of Moncton, and five sons, Antoine P., Montreal, Phileas, Arthur, Alyre and Leo, all of this city. Two sisters and two brothers also survive. They are Mrs. Eloi C. Cormier, Moncton, Mrs. Melime Girouard, Leominster, Mass., Tim P. Leger, Moncton, and Val P. Leger, Bridgeport, N.S. The funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later.

Born in Dupuis Corner, NB on July 10, 1925 he was the son of the late Alphé Fougère and the late Alice Fougère. He was a retired carpenter and he attended Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church, Murphy Avenue. Paul-Emile is survived by one daughter, Gisèle Fougère (Randy) of Moncton; three sons, Thomas Fougère (Lisa) of Shediac, Danny Fougère of Trois Ruisseaux and Camille Fougère of Moncton; two sisters, Regina Ouellette (late Alvérie) and Lorraine Léger (late Rudolphe) both of Cap-Pelé; one sister-in-law, Enna Fougère (late Gérard) of Fitchburg, Mass; two grandchildren, Cecelie and Olivia; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sons, Jerry, Ronald and Joseph; one brother, Gérard; his first wife, Amanda Poirier and second wife, Eva Meyers.     The funeral of Phillip P. Leger whose death occurred Friday night, was held yesterday morning with requiem high mass in L'Assomption Church at nine o'clock, conducted by Rev. Father H.D. Cormier. The service was largely attended by friends and relatives of the deceased from this city and surrounding country. Following the service at the church the cortege left for Shediac Road cemetery where interment was made and a large number of people followed the remains to the cemetery. Mr. Leger was a highly respected and beloved citizen and there was deep mourning as he was laid to rest. The pallbearers were Alyre Cormier, Edmund Cormier, Edmund Leger, Henry Leger, nephews of the deceased, and Edgar Melanson and Alfred Melanson, grandsons. A large number of floral tributes, mass cards, spirtual bouquets and messages of sympathy were received, bearing testimony to the love and esteem in which Mr. Leger was held.

    A pretty wedding took place in St. Joseph's Catholic Church here this morning when Rev. Father J.J.V. Gaudet united in marriage Miss Juliette Arseneau, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Arseneau, to Alphonse Leger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Leger, of Scoudouc. The ceremony, which was performed in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives took place at eight o'clock. The bride was prettily gowned in white, with veil and accessories to match, and carried a bouquet of shite roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Bertha Arseneau, sister of the bride, was attired in a rose gown and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Yvon Gallant acted as best man. After the wedding breakfast at the home of the bride, the happy couple left for New York on their honeymoon and on their return will reside in Scoudouc.

The body is resting at St. Laurent Funeral Home in Lynn.
